I need some opnions...

I wasn't sure which subforum to put this, so I hope it's not in the wrong area. Right now I'm trying to decide between upgrading an existing platform from stock (My APS UAR, of which I plan to replace all internals, pretty much) or take the money I was to spend on upgrading and put it into a certain mystery box where I get a new gun and stand the chance to receive something decent or better than.

I am torn as to what I should do? Excitement of a new gun where I don't know exactly what I'm getting?

Or know exactly what I want out of a gun and have to do all the tech work myself which I don't have much experience in?

mystery boxes are fun if you have disposeable income. if your gun doesnt perform they way you want then either upgrade or buy something beter.
the box you may wind up with something that is just as bad.
what dont you like aboit ypur current set up. a simple hop up and barrel may make great improvements.

your odds on these mystery boxes are 16 in 237 to get something good.

Everything else if that's what you want, just save up and get it. The odds of landing a garbage gun are too high. If you NEED a gun then it's not a bad way of trying to get a good one for the price of a shit one, but not be out a shit one if you need one.

Don't buy mystery boxes. It's a method of clearing shit inventory nobody wants.

I am biased since I work in a shop that does mystery boxes so I wouldn't call them shit. As mentioned above if you like to gamble the top prizes can be worth it but I wouldn't spend the cash if it was better used elsewhere.

My current problem with the gun is that the motor fucked off on me. To get it running all I need is a motor, but I wanted to upgrade the internals while I'm at it for better reliability. I'd be getting mostly shs parts. Gears, piston, piston head, nozzle, tappet... Basically gutting the shell and replacing the parts. Going to be radiusing the box too. I also plan to put a new hop rubber, likely a lonex rubber or a pdi w-hold. Gun was accurate enough stock, so a flat hopped barrel with come later.

I think upgrading would be better now. I do love the bullpup platform.

Thanks got your insight. I think I'll be upgrading my current weapon. Rekindle my love for it.

Yeah I was looking at the odds too. The shop that's doing this most of the guns are actually decent or better than decent. Some approaching amazing. Problem is the two prizes that I'm most likely to get are a valken battle machine m4 or a Jing gong g36c. Already got a g36, don't really want a second one and the battle machine doesn't seem that reliable.

Just don't

with a bit of tuning, the UAR is a very nice gun.
Nice enough that I almost wanted one myself (lacked budget for an AEG, go GBBR!)

Really, just get a SHS torque motor, clean-up the mechbox, plastic nozzle (o-ring type), aluminum cylinder head and a good rubber. Make sure to shim the gears properly and tune your airseal/hop-up.

Thinking about it, might pickup one for this winter...

Yeah the uar is a decent gun. I got the v2 as well. I need to figure out why it doesn't like to switch to full auto, but that's likely due to the linkage near the trigger being loose. Like I said, pretty damned accurate or if the box too.
