You can also say the same thing about blue beret, black beret, light blue VDV "telnyashka" etc. I personally wouldn't wear any of the items listed above in my impression but I don't think that it's appropriate to tell people what not to wear in the field if they actually have proper reenactment impression of a certain unit.

To some guys it's the same thing. You can call it brotherhood ID. Friend of mine used to wear one a lot until he was asked by 2 ex VDV guys where he served. When they found out that we was not part of VDV they asked him to take it off. Mind you, it did not happened back home, it happened in Russian neighborhood of Toronto. One of my family members served his 2 years in VDV. He's not too happy when "regular" people wear light blue one.

The sentiment is hardly VDV specific, Airborne around the world feel this way. They do training that other soldiers do not, usually very hard and strict training.

To a lesser degree, a lot of military members feel this way about unit emblems or cap badges.

Горку все таскают а голубой тельник как-никак часть их уставной формы одежды.

You may at your own risk wear whatever you want outside of this forum but please don't post them up here.
