Painting this vest. Will paint even work?

Hey all, I searched all around the net regarding the painting of this vest, but haven't really come up with anything besides dying it, which appears to be a time-consuming process.

I've had this vest since like.. '06 and recently I've been interested in painting it. The material of this vest according to the tag is 100% polyester. I'm not the best with paints.. would a spraypaint like krylon stick to this well?

Vest in question:

thanks!

It should stick, I had the same LBV in 3 color jungle cam and I spray painted it OD with some tan/khaki it stuck but also took quite a bit of paint to do so. The only part that I painted was the back portion for a water bladder i canableized it or that part and hooked it up to my rig paint is still there and it was painted well before last summer

Nice link!

I will look into some painting techniques for this, I really like that well used look with the black starting to creep back out.

The technique:

1. Paint it.

2. Use it.

I Kryloned a few black and green things (even the black buckles). It goes well but it can take a lot of paint. Get a few cans, go slow and be ready for it to take a while since a lot of thin coats gives a better result than one heavy coat.

I hung stuff up in a tree, sprayed it and left it for a few hours. Then sprayed it again and so on. I left it outside till all the smell was gone.

Does not flake at all - the paint absorbs/soaks into the cordura.

Might want to give the buckles a quick hit of very light sanding.

You can also dye it. I read on some forum that dudes have used something called 'Rit dye' with good results. I used Tintex dye from Shoppers drug mart on a chest rig, going from tan to black, and it was left looking gray. The material is also alot stiffer after the process.

I would recommend just spray painting that mofo, it's quicker and easy and will probably work better and you can always tough it up later if you feel like being fancy.

It will rub off a little with use/abrasion.
But it will stay on. You will have a dirty used look though.

Anyone have a source for Krylon camo sprays? Last time I checked my local home improvement stores did not have them. I have a vest that needs to painted as well.
