First crack at this style yesterday. The idea I had in mind was a very used lower that has perhaps seen many combat tours, with a newer upper on it. Maybe the person using it has a selection of uppers, but only uses the one lower. I like having a little story to go with my paint jobs. Let me know what you guys think.

Here's my G&G M14 done in a mix of rattle can Krylon and Avervoe. Second pic is without flash so the colours are a bit muted.

My attempt at ATACS on my WE G36k

Turned out a little greener/darker then I hoped but mostly for the best as I play allot in forests.

Do you guys disassemble your guns before painting, or just do it with them together? Any real risk of paint getting into the internals/sort of gluing things together?

Some folks go all out and strip em down others just paint em whole.
On a gbb id suggest taping over openings and such. Aegs dont really have openings to stuff that can stick together. For a stripped down gun tape up openings to avoid getting paint on the inside to avoid fitment issues. Gbb or aeg stuff can get tight inside with even a half mm of paint.
Mostly id say of yer gonna do it do it right but for a good camo pattern its better if you can keep the parts together or layed out closely to how they will be assembled so all the pattern lines up. Im a lil OCD tho lol.

I can see what you are trying to achieve, however it'd be better to let it wear out naturally after removed the paint. it doesn't look real for now.
