Krylon only comes in ultra-flat camo OD, Khaki, Brown and Black?

I need another shade of green to camouflage my rifle, but it's not working very well with just OD, khaki and brown (I haven't painted the rifle yet, I've been practicing on my brother's toy guns). Am I doing it wrong, or is there a lighter green paint that anyone can recommend?

Check your paint supplier, Krylon has their traditional Camo Paint series. And this summer they release a new Krylon Camo series based upon their plastic lawn furniture paint line. So far I find the colours to work a lot better, and do not have the "shine" the older Camo series did. I've seen it at the local Canadian Tire, and it was not on the same shelf with the rest of the camo paints, it was over in the plastic lawn furniture ones, but is label with Camo Paint on it.

At my CT all the spray paints are on one rack and they only have the old OD khaki brown and black camo paints. I'll check more thoroughly next time I'm there I guess. Thanks for the info

That's the kind I just bought, but on the website there it says it only comes in black, brown, khaki and olive. I'm looking for another lighter shade of green to put as the base coat so the leaf stencilling shows up better when i go over it in olive drab. Unless there's a way to do it with the colours that krylon makes.

if you cant find the proper colours in ultra flat, than if you have to, use satin, it offers a verry small glossy effect, but it dosent mater because notice how on real leaves they are somewhat shinny sometimes, but remember, if you dont like it, than use Tamiya's Matt clear coat bought at most local hobby stores.

I've always found their OD to be too light on the old series, the new one is a little darker but has the flat tone to it instead of the shine. Might want to try their old series which is still floating around, comes in a camo patterned can. But they are starting to disappear from shelves as Krylon discontinued that series.

Thanks, I think I saw some old series OD stuffed behind the new OD on the racks and Canadian tire. Will post pics if I ever get this done.

I also like better the new Camo line, but strangely enough the Indoor/Outdoor Paint line seems to "sticky" better than the Camo fusion in the ABS body I painted

Maybe it depends on the kind of plastic painted??

I do all my camo with Tamiya model paint.

They have all the military standards of all countries, from plain old OD to Nato Black and some rush-like brown I can't remember the name.

Then clear-coat with Krylon flat coat.

You can get the exact color you want, and if it is not what you want exactly, you can get them in non-spray can version, mix 2-3 to get the right color and then airbrush it on your gun.

I painted a whole bunch of guns with that... flat black looks like a metal piece when painted with that.

Wow this is great. I was almost having second thoughts about painting my rifle, but all this information makes me pretty confident. I'll go check out the Bomb Shelter and I'll look around for Tamiya. The British green they make would be a good base color.

See how the leaf patterns only show up on the brown? That's why I'm looking for a lighter green. If anyone has any helpful tips I'm glad to hear them.
