Helmet for CQB?

Is there a point of buying 70$ helmets for CQB games when the max fps is 350? I see lots of people just wearing hats or ski masks. I'm still kind of new and I don't think I've ever been shot in the head, so I was wondering if it hurts.

Everybody's sensitivity is different, but in my case I run a baseball cap. I get shot on the ears, on the forehead and on the scalp all the time. It sting but it doesnt bother me much but you diffidently have more coverage with a helmet.

It's not only to protect yourself from BBs, but all the obstacles you may encounter in a CQB-type field. The moment you'll trip and hit your head on something, believe me the ''point of buying a 70$ helmet'' will come in handy.

It's not only a question of looking good, it's also a question of personal safety.

Helmet in CQB are really good to avoid head injury (BB on the head is not very painfull in my experience). Sometimes, when rushing into a room I don't want to be carreful about low ceiling, door frame or other random object that could be hagging from ceilling. Samething when rushing down some small stair case.

That plus I look even cooler with an helmet.

Seen guys nearly knock them selves out writing cheques their bodies can't cash.

Helmets, are for noggin protection, anti BB is just an accessory benefit.

if you are going to buy a helmet, buy a real, proper , bump helmet, and not a replica helmet.

IMO, helmet are mendatory for CQB. Mainly for obstacles.

When we play in derelict complexes, we often bump our heads on stuff. Not to mention the occasionnal rifle that fall on your head. (true story).

I ran a $30 BMX helmet from Crappy tire for my first year and still have it now. It paid for its self the 1st time i took a fall in PRZ.

The max FPS may be 350, but the the engagement distance is shorter. Also, indoor games often take place at paintball facilities and the floor can be very slippery.

FORGET the shots to the head. Yeah, they'll hurt and they're some of the worst bleeders you'll get.

Helmets are mandatory (IMO) for CQB to guard against impacts with obstacles or falling/tripping/collsions/etc.....protection from BB shots is a side benefit.

Aside from the "inconsequential" bangs and bumps...I've seen a half dozen instances that were, "Holy Crap...stop everything and see if the guy is ok". Most had helmets on thankfully.

The worst one was a guy falling a story onto a concrete floor...he was laid out and went to the hospital. Ask Mr. Shiney if a helmet is a good idea. Don't ask him if he remembers that fall...he might not.

A real Protec skateboard helmet is way better than a clone OpsCore BaseJump that'll disentegrate in a real impact, just when your brain needs the protection....

Being one of people described above. Yes, helmets are a must!
A Protec skateboard helmet saved my noggin when I went head first into the concrete wall. I would not buy one of those clones of tacticool stuff to look cool. Nor will I buy clone CAT or any other safety equipment. You might not need it ever, but if you do, cheap clones will cost you much more than you might save buying crap.

Well I know an airsofter who has a permanent bald patch from being shot in the back of the head from a bb lol. I would advise you to get one you never know if you slip, trip and fall. If your mounting camera, lighting or night vision equipment its also a must have.

I would get this one. A bit more expensive but it's camo.

The tier one guys startred the trend of wearing bike/climbing/kayaking helmets for bump protection so just about any of them will do the job.

I use a cheap PASGAT clone, they can be had for under 10 dollars on ACMgear. I know it's not certified protection from falls and bumps however it is much better then bumping your head on a wall with just a ball cap on. Another important thing to note, is that the fake pasgats are much lighter then other helmets while offering some protection. This is really more anti bb effective then anything else, particularly because when I pop out of corners I only normally show my head. In the end it's better to buy certified protection.
