At the field I play we get 40 to 50 people on walk on scrim days. I'd say 75-80 % of them never even heard of ASC until I drum it into thier heads that ASC is an endless well of knowlage and experience to be tapped by all.

Just wondering, is there a dekline in the sport?

Cheers.
it's summer. Don't forget most are Canadians here and we don't get very much summer or good weather during the year(fuck you BC, rain sucks just as bad). Most people are out and about I would think. I myself have just been swamped with work. I'm freelance so I don't choose my hours and I can end up doing a lot of overtime. Summer is a busy season so that's my story.

airsoft is still alive and strong.

ASC. Is a fraction of the scene, a pretty sizable fraction, but by no means an indicator of the growing popularity.

In the US Airsoft is supplanting paintball in many quarters... We lag behind that trend but not by much

There are 3 times as many fields in Ontario as there used to be.

Every weekend there is typically 5 or more games going within 1 hour drive of my house.

Airsoft is more than alive and well

Out here a lot of the players aren't online, let alone on ASC. There's a lot of phone calls made to organize things.

Well here in K-town it has died for me because the lack of access of BB's & gear being sold locally. And my only option is to buy online but if they don't take DD as payment Im shit out of luck. Oh ya I don't do face book any more just don't like it.

I think it's starting to attract a newer subset of individuals who aren't as boastful of their out of office leisure pursuits due to the overwhelmingly negative climate on guns in our fair country. But I say fuck that. Bring on the skirmish - this office desk warmer will be there and hang his action shots on the office walls to boot.

Ummm yeah, about that.. I work in a predominantly female, very strongly Liberal left-leaning social services environment.. when it became known that I was getting involved in this, well it sure took some talking up to convince them that A. I was neither experiencing a psychiatric crisis event nor a danger to anyone with my big-boy toys, and B. that i was merely harmlessly nuts (as i've aways been) and likely just experiencing a more severe form of mid-life crisis, and that they didn't pay me enough for the requisite convertible sports-car and golf membership/lessons.

There is a lot of new players out there, that aren't considered 'young' (chronologically, anyway).

Also I know that HardCorps Penticton is alive and well and that Prince George/Northern Interior Airsoft is alive and kicking as well.
actually hardcorps doesn't even have a field anymore and the owner has gone up north to work. How ever Yes we are still organizing games in kelowna VIA face book... invite only... secret group.... because of some people ruining it for everyone.

*Edit* this may slow down a little bit but we have been playing almost every weekend. How ever i am going to be working out of red deer soon so no idea what will happen with Tsunami airsoft than.

I feel like the reason it seems that airsoft has declined on ASC is that airsoft is much less restricted to ASC AV'ed members now. I'm seeing games being posted everywhere, even on Facebook, and a shit ton of underage kiddies are getting their hands on guns.

I had that kind environment too when I was in university.... My excuse was, I'm an engineer I just like cool things and this qualifies as a cool mechanical system that propels BB's by compression force and gears and a battery. I also like drinking heavily, and breaking things to failure point (only put x pounds of force on that beam to study deflection?, lets see what happens when we put over 9000 pounds of force on it! We have chemistry equipment? What if we.... add sugar and yeast to some grain mash and use fractional distillation?), also being a socially awkward penguin.

Yup. That's why I like Alberta for it's airsoft scene. I'm still a BC boy at heart, but in a small town you'll see fifteen plus people show up for a weekend scrim. Mostly wearing real-steel gear, and running Systema PTWs. God Bless the right wing, elitist, industrial culture! Lol.

Anyways; many centers have extremely large groups that have their own airsoft culture. www.JOCAirsoft.com Is such a one. Our neighbors in Calgary have grown to the point where they don't "need" other groups "within reason". We still have a large family here in Alberta, but people have stopped traveling for out of province games. Everything you'd need is right here. An abundance of high end gun shops, BBs, fields, and ops. I imagine that Ontario is our counterpart in the East. But in places like BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba; airsoft is .....complicated. Lack of people, lack of money, lack of getting along. However; it is still growing everywhere.

We were just at Battlefield 8, and had an attendance of over one hundred and fifty I believe (I could be wrong). It's a six hour domination style scrim on a Saturday evening. There is so much going on around here, that it's hard to justify leaving Alberta for airsoft purposes. Battlefield was a blast again. Thanks to Kimbo and the Black Devils and their sponsors by the way for that one.

We and many others are still making the long pilgrimage to Winnipeg for Operation: Cold Front III. I suggest anyone that can, attend this event. It's usually the best game we see, and a huge blast.

Linds, I'm excited to be going back to Alberta in the next couple of months. Hopefully myself and Nach can make it out to a couple games.

Also in Vancouver at least, games are actually every weekend at different venues (Indoor CQB, Outdoor FIBUA, 2 different outdoor venues, plus Bigfoot out in Mission) with really good attendance numbers and there's a couple new venues to play at. Still I think I'd rather play with the Brooks boys even if I am outgunned cause I don't have a PTW.
