Krytac Trident MKII gearbox locking up

Hope someone can help here because I'm out of solutions and about to just throw this gun in the trash, a big headache. Got a Krytac Trident MKII CRB a few months ago from torontoairsoft.com, worked well for about 2-3 games then the gearbox locked up, I knew it wasn't a hard process so I just pop the anti-reversal latch and changed the fuse that was blown. Didn't work and the gearbox locked up again, so I decided I would open the gearbox and see what's wrong with it. I seen nothing special or out of place there so I put it back together and put the gun away for a few weeks. Yesterday I went playing with my friend, gave her my CRB to play with thinking I fixed the problem because I did shoot the gun quite a bit before the game, unfortunately, she press the trigger right in the middle of a firefight and I hear the gearbox just locking up. What could cause the gearbox of a stock gun to lock up like this? Thanks for the help in advance!

Could be the battery not having enough juice, motor blown, or spring too strong....

Bring it to a tech?

I'd better want to fix it myself if possible, will try another battery but I doubt it's the battery's fault, how do I know for sure the motor is dead? I mean it does turn when outside the gearbox and gun worked fine for a good part of the game (about 2h), for the spring I haven't changed it so if it's too strong that's kinda dumb to sell the gun in such a condition, at least coming from an official retailer..

I doubt they would take it back if he's already opened it up.

Probably past warranty period... they usually only do 2 weeks.

If the fuse is blown replacing it won't solve the problem.

The issue is that there's a part of the gearbox that is preventing the gears from turning. You need to take it to a technician and actually have them inspect every nook and cranny of the gears for particles and broken pieces and have them replaced. A gearbox locking up is a sign something went wrong and you need to get it repaired by a professional.

Broken within 3 months? That's a joke. At this point I don't see why I should even try to repair it/bring it to a tech. I need a reliable gun as primary, if I can't trust Krytac anymore then I'm only keeping it for pieces. Is that common?

Its airsoft, these are hobby grade parts. Things break. I'd potentially look to see if the bushing clearance is correct, I've seen a few cases where the bushing became deformed in a way that the bevel gear would occasionally become stuck.

Otherwise, bring it to a technician to get fixed. Krytacs are bad upgrade platforms but are decent stock guns.

I'm aware, but even my E&C and Cyma lasted longer. I mean I still paid a good amount of money for that "toy". I'm not buying $500 guns for them to make a few months, in that case I bought it in april, then be obliged to replace parts already. Especially considering the fact I fielded it in only 3 or 4 skirmishes. I would have agreed if it was a Lancer Tactical, but not Krytac.

Anything with moving parts is subject to breaking sooner or later. It's not a matter of "if" but "when". You're just very unlucky. My Krytac SPR is still going strong after a year with my only issue having to tighten the buffertube screw once in a while.

If you think that's impressive you should buy APS. Definitely won't break after 1 game! Or an ARES, that breaks on the first trigger pull!

Guess I'll go for a TM Recoil shock then, heard good things about them. Might get around trying to fix my CRB but definitely not gonna trust it ever again.

my two cents on gearboxs

Make sure you are shimming using the shell alone and gears shimmed only. test fit and us a small push device to test for side to side lateral slop in the gears by pushing back and forth on the gear shafts individually.

for the final test screw it together and check for spin and any lateral movement.

next, check the sector gear engagement point on the piston, does it need it's aoe corrected?

Does this aeg use a ball bearing spring guide or piston head, this will also smooth things out.

if free movement of the gears, sector engagement is good then reassemble, check the tappet plate is moving freely, plug in the battery, test once, adjust motor height if needed, carefully, see if it smooths things out and cycles better.

It was a stock gun, there should be no reason for it to lock up like this, to me a gun which cannot even make a year before breaking isn't worth the money at all, just look at VFC, they offer a 1 year warranty.
