M249 or M249 Para??

Which one should I go for? I've already owned 2 Para's in the past but sold em due to financial situations. Now I have a choice of either the standard M249 or the Para and I love both, but I can only get one which one should I get!?

Get m249 para and then get the solid stock separate, so when you are in the mood to have a solid stock you can switch.

link very related

Doesn't the M249 have a longer barrel, while the M249 Para has a shorter barrel?

Get one and you'll endup wanting the other at one point, but I'd say go with the para for ease of mouvement. The gun is allready 15lb, you migth not want it to be cumbersome.

Yep, but barrel length makes no difference when your gun is built right

Wasn't saying it made a difference. I know barrel length doesn't make that much difference. I went from an AUG with a 590mm barrel to an AKS74U with a 260mm barrel!
Just that if he wants a shorter or lighter gun, he could go with the para.

The barrel length makes a HUGE difference.

Not in performance but in maneuverability. I got a M249 full size and removed the longer part of the barrel (A&K/Echo 1 have 2 part barrel) and that little modification turned the gun from too much for a 5'6" individual (me) to handle into something I can use like a rifle.

The weight makes a bigger difference than the barrel length. Despite being 5'7, somehow I excel at using long rifles. It's still more difficult than I'd like to go from prone to standing while holding my 8.5kg para with one arm, but I can handle a CA M249 MKII like an M16 lol

But +1 for dense woods and CQB on the para. Plus that retractable stock comes in handy a lot, especially in vehicles!
