Meh, typical attitude.
They think if it can fire a round its a gun, doesnt matter if the shooter's dead or not.

Funny than none of the airsoft guns that the players were using in the video still had the orange tips on the flash hiders.

As far as those GBBR's being able to fire real rounds. Yeah I suppose so you if you changed every single last part of it to real steel.

The only thing left from the GBBR after a RS conversion would be the sights, and maybe the rails. Everything else would probably not fit or melt/explode.

All airsoft guns become real when you put the mags in backwards.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the requirement for the orange tip is only for shipping especially between state lines.

As for this story, if I were that guy I'd be filing that FOIA request for the test report right quick and if that's what they are basing the seizure on they should be furnishing him with a copy of it without too much hassle.

Laws vary state to state. Pretty sure removing the orange tip in California is a no no. As for the other 49 states not so certain.

Still funny.

Oh crap, I'm gonna s(-)it myself...this is just too funny.

But alas, the fear mongering has been started by yet another government agency. But this time it happening in a country where not only is airsoft completely legal, but over 70% of it's population can carry the real stuff.

The problem for us will happen if these "specialists"* push the issue and share it's unfounded findings with other police agencies. This of course will lead to more fear mongering through politics based as a public safety concern for any election platform, and this mentality will eventually seep cross border if the hype gains any type of momentum with the uneduacted. Oh, but never mind, we're talking about the US aren't we.

*Definition - technical weapons specialist;
A think they know it all, gun toting yahoo, who demonstrates their uber elite knowledge by insisting that the mag being inserted backwards is not only correct, but is proper technique, that allows the now real weapon to fire live ammunition with select fire capabilities.
