WE HK416 or SCAR-L GBBR

Hi, I'm going to be getting one of these two gas guns. I know that WE doesn't have an outstanding reputation in the past but it has gotten much much better. I own 2 AEGs and a gas pistol. I am looking for something that looks and feels amazing when I'm shooting, (big, visible bolt) and something that will last quite a while. I only airsoft around once every two weeks. I am not afraid of taking the guns apart because I have experience with real steel AR-15s and handguns.

Which gun would win?
- Out of the box preformance
- Durability and reliability
- Longevity
- Accuracy and range (I'm not too worried about this as I'm not in competitive airsofting and after all, it is a gas gun. But as long as it doesn't shoot straight one shot, then straight up the next I'll be good.)

I like the 416 build and style but the scar is unique. But overall I'll probably get the 416 if it comes down to aesthetics.

416 I'd say. But uhhhhh what the heck are you on about. the Open bolt WE's are really good. and the gen 2 mags are a huge step up from the gen 1 design. Still a GBBR but they are plenty reliable.

i ran a We Closed bolt gen 3, only thing that ever broke was the mags. and they can be fixed. The only issues I've had are the odd double feed (bring an unjamming rod).

The Gen 2 Open Bolt mags really only leak from the fill and vent seals, not hard to fix and orings are easy to source (getting aftermarket orings in the mags can be a better solution, any orings the correct size will work). Just clean it, lube like you would any GBBR

some people here will promote getting a GHK, I've got no experience with them, Love my WE tho

I think the 416 will be better out of the box. Not sure if they fixed the back plate breaking on the SCAR. But you will need a NPAS in them or they shoot too hot. Youll have to get RA-Tech stuff, which is pretty hit or miss. FG Airsoft makes these little plastic o-ring things that you drop into the nozzle which makes the hole smaller. Much more consistent than RA NPAS.

GHK is by far the best right out of the box. Steel internals and you dont need to upgrade anything but the nozzle. 1J nozzle will run you 30$. Plus the GHK gas efficiency surpasses WE, along with cooldown effects on the mags. You will not be able to clear a mag in cold weather with the WE, whereas GHK will have no problems! Also much easier to get GHK internal parts than WE I find. Cheaper too!

GHK would win, or the new TM ZWS.

GHK doesn't make a 416, guys. Your choices for a 416 are WE or VFC, basically. And I'd take a WE GBBR over a VFC GBBR any day.

I've owned both the WE 416 and the WE SCAR L. I think that they both share common trigger mech parts, so if you wanted to upgrade those bits you could pretty easily. However, I would say don't bother upgrading.

Buy a new SCAR or 416. Install an NPAS or flow restrictor discs from FG Airsoft. Keep the gun cleaned and lubed and just play. Newer WE offerings tend to be great out of the box, and no longer require immediate internal upgrades like they used to.

If you pick up a SCAR get the Angry Gun super recoil kit, it increases the RoF to some crazy level like 1000 or so, but also serves to both return the bolt to battery faster on semi and to increase felt recoil. If you get the 416 get a real M4 carbine buffer to get rid of bolt bounce and increase felt recoil.

With either one, only upgrade the trigger bits if something actually breaks. And with the higher quality of WE guns now that could be thousands and thousands of rounds fired.

Fine.

GHK for your M4 and AK.

WE for your G36/SCAR/P90, IMO WE did these very well!

All my RA-tech parts have been great, but on my current open bolt the only RA-tech part is the NPAS, no issues so far. My old closed bolt 416 had all Ra-tech internals and worked great for 3 years.

Backplate issue is fixed since openbolt SCARs hit the market.
They are gen3-4 now.

I ran an old Gen1 Closed-bolt, converted to OB and replaced the hinge plate.
Hit more player than all my other guns combined over 4 years.
Sold it (I was phasing out airsoft).
Bought an other SCAR from some guy. I missed it.

Now have SCAR-H waiting to be fielded.
And a P90 on order.

I personally didn't like the M4/HK416s (had 4 total).
They do share some trigger components, but the actual trigger is different.

It's a lot of personal taste. I find that a SCAR with a MOE grip is the best there is. Yes, I like the boot.
But you can also install the Angrygun ACR stock on it. Got one, it's wobbly.

As some of the others have said, WEs are great and GHKs are good too, so it really comes down to a matter of preference. However, since WEs have been around a HELL of a lot longer in M4 form, there are a crap load of used ones floating around at a much lower price. Not sure if you need a brand new GBBR, but used WEs will be cheaper because there are more of them out there.

Scar or 416?

Scar - not as many cosmetic options to personalize it, but less common so you'll still stand out a bit from the infantesimal number of ARs out there

416 - can accept just about ANY AR accessory out there and there are TONS!

Between the 2, it's just a matter of preference and cash flow

The only real issue with WE ARs like the M4/M16 and 416, is the lower receiver can break around the trigger guard if you put too much stress on it by dropping it hard or slamming it hard into something. The GHK seems like it's a bit stronger, not that the WE feels weak by any means, I've just seen this as a common area for the body to fail.

416, if it's down to a we 416 or scar, basically they are the same gun. Yes there are some minor differences internally however they are mainly the same as far as performance, reliability etc.. Altho I'd likely lean towards the 416 being a little more durable due to the scars stock and plastic bits.
