How to get a Muzzle Velocity Reducer on my Aftermath Broxa
Hey guys, I was told the Aftermath Broxa MP5 has a negative thread but I'll be damned if that was bull. I need to get the MVR on my gun so I can actually play because sadly (and at the same time thankfully) my gun shoots at 390fps.
Any ideas? |

Where do you play? Velocity reducers aren't permitted at most venues.

Scrap the MVR idea. They only barely "work" in semi auto.
A previously mentioned most fields won't allow them and if you fire in rapid succession the 2nd, 3rd etc shot will be at a higher velocity that the first. Also, the MVR might not even last a game. The plastic inhibitors inside that reduce the velocity weaken with every shot. It doesn't take much to tear the inhibitor to shreads. A few full auto bursts at 390 fps will tear it to pieces. I see you are from Kitchener, so I'll assume you play at Flag Raiders. I haven't seen an MVR at the indoor field or the outdoor field.

Actually this gun has yet to even make it to a field because of this. The gun is simple enough to take apart and put another spring in, I'm just lazy. Although I have never heard of those MVRs ripping apart. That's something I don't feel like getting into.
So I imagine the spring is my best bet. I just didn't want to lower it too much cause outdoors on my buddies farm and such would suck. Should I just crack it open and put a lower power spring in it then? Permanent solution and no chance of 30 dollars being wasted. What kind of spring should I put in it? Airsoftparts.ca, if I'm not mistaken, is out of stock on the ones I need. Last edited by AJ457; February 4th, 2011 at 23:28.. |

I know a Modify S90 will take it under the 350 fps indoor max. Pretty sure those are in stock.
I have swapped in Modify S100 springs in a few of my AEG's and they have fired at ~375fps. With the outdoor season just around the corner it might be a waste of time to swap the spring for one or two indoor games.

This gun was actually bought specifically for indoor games lol I have a G36 for my outdoor gun and I wanted my MP5 to be the one that I can use both in and out if I don't feel like hauling around my G36 cause that thing gets annoying after awhile.

Order the Modify S90 spring to get it indoor approved. If you order it on the weekend from airsoftparts you'll probably have it in your hands by Tuesday.
If you have the Broxa mechbox open you might want to do some other stuff that regularly gets suggested on this site. Cheers.

If you looking for help on your spring upgrade, check out Mechbox.com.
Look for the video on the disassembly and spring upgrade on a V2 mechbox, thats what MP5s use. Best of luck!

Since it fires at 390 fps I need something to reduce it so I can play indoors. I used my buddies chrono and was just as blown away as most when seeing a knock off fire at what the box says.
So no, not an asshole lol I was just as confused. Fires strong though, not bad for a hundred bucks for a TM knock off. I bought it cause I figured it would be way lower than 400 fps so I didn't have to rip apart my G36 and just have a low firing indoor gun out of the box. I had another thread asking if it would really be 400 fps and apparently it's really all over the place. One guy said his fired lower than 350 fps and another said his fired around 410 fps. |

I have one and used it on my Kraken, till I bought a different gun for indoors. It does work on semi, using full auto will break it.
It is much better to have a gun with full auto tho.

Full auto is only good for two or three rounds bursts. Just what my dad taught me from his experiences in his 20+ years of service. I have the spring coming on Tuesday so I'll have it all fixed up and good to go by then.

Ya the broxa has a QD outer barrel with no threads so you are SOL. Just do a spring swap and you will be good to go. Consider throwing in a TB barrel, mine must have a freeking 8mm barrel its so all over the place.

Yeah I've been told it sucks for accuracy but mine isn't too bad. I'll probably do that next. First thing I want to do is get damn gun on a field lol
