Real SAAVs (South African Asault Vest)

Just thought I'd let you guys know where to get the real deal SAAV,found a local site that sells alot of stuff,including rhodesian camo

Real SAAVs are one of the easiest pieces of kit to acquire. You can find them all over the internetz and countless surplus stores for less then 70$ cad usually.

Yes, you are referring to the ghey OD, black, and camouflage ones, those are obviously repros, and i wasn't talking about those. I've seen some repros on sale for about 125$, ridiculous.

I hear a lot of people complain that these vests really aren't very practical, can anyone chime in with some personal experience?

I liked it better than the CF vest. found it very good actually. Only problems with the one i had was that it was very cheaply made and all the mag pouches were miss shaped, slightly too small for M16 mag or enough space to fit a G36 mag... very poor quality build with the copies. Of course they have nothing over molle rigs.

The real SAAV aka "gevegsbaadtjie" pouches are meant to be used for Vektor R4/R5/R6 magazines or Galil mags

here's a site owned by a guy I know, "local is lekker" eh?

he's even got some REAL kevlar SANDF helmets, much cheaper than american ones, but they still accept PASGT helmet covers
