Question flashider for a HK 417

just bought a umarex 417. sick sick gun.
want to attach my Magpul Masada SD silencer. its a silencer where you unscrew the bottom of the silencer and insert it through a flashhider, then screw on the flashider back onto the gun. idea is for a quick detach.

however i cant unscrew the flashhider, manual doesnt say anything.

Does it have a set/grub screw on it? If it does itll take a small alen key like 1mm or 0.5mm.
If there is no set screw is it an orange one? Plastic? If its plastic try sprayin some lube like pure silicone oil and let it sit a bit then use a wrench on ghe hider and a pare of vice vrips on the barrel with a rag or a few layers of tape to protect it or try soaking it in hot water and use the same method.
If it is metal heat it wil a torch or butane lighter or even on the stove, be sure to protect you hands when u grab it while its hot and use the same wrench method.
It is likely glued or loctited ln there. Especially if it is an orange one.

Just be manly, there's a little glue on it. No set screw. I just used a wrench and yelled "by the power of grey skull!" It worked for me. Great gun btw eh? I love mine. What's your stock fps? Where did you buy yours?

You could also try heating it, and make sure you are loosening it....

Took me a bit of work to get mine off too. I have been able to take a barrel extension off, but I can't figure out how to separate the actual flash hider and the barrel extension. What I did:

1.) Apply hockey tape to the flash hider in several layers. (So as to not muck up the barrel with your spanner)
2.) Take a spanner and latch it onto the flash hider.
3.) Heat up the barrel with a hair dryer (There's a bit of glue on the threads)
4.) Twist the flash hider off with the spanner while securing the gun (hold it between your legs, etc). Take the tape off.

The flash hider should be off and ready for your silencer.

Weird Debrief, my flash hider came off no problem, but not the barrel extension. Go figure, ha.

I can't get my barrel extension off for the life of me!!!! And now that I've fucked it all up, I really want it off. Is the barrel extension CCW as well?

hey guys,

thanks for replies. for some reason i dont get notified when someone posts in my thread. nyways.

all is good, i followed Debrief 's instructions and the thing came off pretty easy. there is a little glue on the thread, so take it gently but firmly.

to answer some Qs: my stock fps is 425, bought it at milsig.ca and its the sexiest thing i held in my hand, worth every penny.

Got my Barrel extension off finally. I had to boil it in water for a couple minutes. I'm thinking of throwing on the VFC M25 flash hider

I think it will look pretty rad, what do you think?

Meh, never been a big fan of these "holed ends". I prefer a "real" compensating flash hider, Surefire got my preference.
