Swiss Arms Sig 552 Commando AEG making AWFUL NOISES: HELP

this is my first AEG, and i bought it for my son. it was an absolute BLAST to shoot for the first 30 minutes, then, it started doing this......

i dont even know what to do, how to get inside this thing, what to look for, i am lost. i am however VERY WELL VERSED with RC cars, and i see some of the parts are similar, so that MAY HELP in my understanding of whatever you guys suggest.

i appreciate your help in advance!!!!!

please click on pic to see video of what its doing. this is with the motor pulled back from the gears, and the sound it makes when the motor is pressed up against the gears (nor hard tho) and i tried to get a shot in the little hole up top where i can clearly see a gear spinning.

Is it screaming? If so play with the motor depth adjuster.....the hex screw under the pistol grip on most AEGs, never took apart a SIG though.

Your motor isn't pushed in enough push it it more.. And it looks like you're pushing the motor in with your thumb.. lol

Look on the bottom of the pistol grip there should be a little grub screw it adjusts the motor height that sound you hear is the motor spining but not contacting the gears try tightning it down a quarter turn at a time

Wow 3 answers in less than a minute must be a record

If your motor IS actually making contact with the gears, then you have a stripped piston or stripped gears. Most likely a stripped piston.

Motor is too high or too low, play with the grub screw in the bottom of the pistol grip.

Or; Your piston is stripped

Or; You've got a stripped gear.

Thanks for the super fast replies!!! The reason I was using my thumb to push the motor in and out was to illustrate that the motors depth makes no difference in the noise. The first thing I tried (per the PO's suggestion) was indeed the Allen screw on the bottom of the handle, but no dice.

I have to learn what a piston is, and what gears this thing has. Hell, I need to learn how to GET TO those parts, cause I couldn't figure it out.

Help in those arenas would be appreciated!!

Hey check out this link:

You can ask Rotting just about anything about the Sig552.

Hope this helps.

ok, i found the issue. it appears that the axles on the gears are sliding out, so i put a piece of tape over the holes and they are staying in tight.

is there anyway to prevent this from happening PROPERLY? i am sure duct tape is not the normal solution.

Put better gears in it is the easiest way to fix it, I've never seen gears of any qualiy with lose axels without that part being broken.

Are the axles actually loose or is the shim job have so much slop (slop is the axle play up and down) that it just seems that way? On the bottom of the motor when you put the grip plate back in is there a small round plate? Without that when you tighten the motor height grub screw itll tighten up against the shaft causibg binding .
