ICS custom G36

Just looked at ICS's FB page and they had posted this.
Thoughts?

That's....interesting. Funky textures and rails, and a hybrid G36/M4 magwell.

The white one looks really nice. Probably more of a wall-hanger though.

I kind of like it, would actually get one if not for the ICS marking on the stock that's so visible. Thing I hate about ICS is that there are so many proprietary parts, same with ares. Never making the same mistake again: C

It's nice looking furniture, except for the "ICS" molded to the buttstock, and the fact it's ICS, and it's for an AEG.

(Mental note to look around for a RAS kit for my G39s.)

The pistolgrip totally kills that for me. Much prefer the standard one.

There is a reason that ICS is naming this gun the "G33" and not "G36".

This is all meant as a clever way to get around the legal mess (and cost) of licensing and trade dress issues. It still strongly resembles a H&K G36 though, so you gotta wonder if they'll still get whacked as they go about selling this thing.

Echo1 has been getting away with selling their MTC series, which is also a license-dodging variant of the G36. ICS's design does look a whole lot more attractive than Echo1's peculiar "oval-hole" RIS / low-profile rail design -- and there's something to be said for that more G3-ish, vaguely UMP-esque stock.

With the legal action around these things heating up as it has been, complete with scandals playing out in front of customers and journalist observers at trade shows, I would expect more of these kinds of variants to continue to pile up. If I were ICS I wouldn't want to pay the licenses either.

ICS and Ares have some nice proprietary improvements but some of those are not well implemented and also unreliable. Also the industry has not adopted those features so it could be industry standards making them still proprietary.

On looks, the Echo1 MTC3 looks so much better.

ICS should have used G36 naming instead of G33. They can still be nailed for the G36 looks of the gun.
