TM G17 hopup issues

I'm wondering if any GBB gurus can shed some light on what might be happening. I have a TM G17 that's about a year old and worked great stock. I just couldn't resist leaving it alone so here's a list of items I've replaced.

- Ace1arms RMR SAI slide kit.
- GunsModify Reinforced Nozzle Set Marui Glock 18C
- GunsModify Reinforced Piston Head TM G18C
- PDI W HOLD GBB Hop-Up Rubber
- PDI RAVEN 6.01 Steel Tightbore
- UAC Match Grade Stainless Steel Trigger Lever for Marui G17

The gun is still pretty accurate but I've noticed that even with the hopup set to max I'm barely getting any backspin on the BBs, they do not fly upwards. I've tested this with .20s and .25s. The crappy part is that I don't have a chrono so I'm uncertain if the fps dropped resulting in lack of power, I haven't noticed any difference in range though.

Thanks in advance!
F.

How are you getting the same range with barely any hopup? Hopup = range.

What I meant is that on the current version the difference in range and bb flight path with and without hopup is not as pronounced. On the stock version you could clearly see the bbs flying upward as the hop was increased thus altering the range but now it seems that the hopup is not applying enough pressure on the bb or it's something else. I've removed the barrel and checked visually and it all seems in order.

Perhaps you didn't put the hopup rubber on correctly, in the right orientation.

Try a new rubber. (Nineball rubber or Maple Leaf 60 degree)

The rubber us installed correctly and I can see it working when I increase the hop. Maybe it's too soft, but I figure it would work ok sice the barrel is a PDI as well.

I guess I'll just have to try a new one like BioRage suggested.

Thanks for the help guys.

Put in your original rubber to see if it's the issue.. :S

Could be nozzle too >_< Just narrow it down by easiest ways.

Funny you said that. I tested with the original and it's working way better.

I'm guessing either the rubber on PDI is too soft or the W shape of the nub prevents enough contact with the bb to be effective. Maybe even both.

Thanks again for your help. I'll look into the maple leaf one as well since it looks like it has a nice and big contact surface. Seems .28 friendly.

When you installed the ace 1 kit did you swap the floating valve inside the nozzle

I did but it was getting stuck. I read online that this is common with this kit and to just keep using the original TM valve and that solved the problem. I'm not sure if it's as efficient as using it on the original TM nozzle though.

I've read lot's on interesting things about poseidon and and angel custom rocket valves and how they increase the fps a bit while being more gas efficient. I'm debating if it's worth it.

The hopup issue has been solved though so that's one of the list

When it comes to Glock buckings im not a fan of the PDI W Hold. I stick to the Maple Leaf Ones. They have a new 60 degree yellow one and it comes with a C clip for extra air seal. I have yet to test it but i installed one in my friends TM Glock and it works pretty damn well paired with the PDI Raven which is the exact one u have.

Edit: So I found out they have 2 series, Auto Bot and Decepticons. The one I got was the AutoBot one which is for longer distances. The Decepticon one is for Higher Accuracy at Shorter Distances. So great for CQB. AUtobot would be good for trying to snipe people from distances with a pistol if thats your thing.

Thats what I found out anyway.

Heres the chart for it.

Wow this is awesome. Transformers named parts will get my money every time

On a more serious note though thanks for the info. I'm definitely going the maple leaf route, probably the decepticon one since I'd rather use my rifle for distance.

The PDI was a big let down unfortunately but the stock one is working well. I tried it with some .28s and the results have been mind blowing. Leaps and bounds better than .25s, they just fly straight.

Maple Leaf all the way in both my KSC/KWA guns and my TM based Guns [Glock of course ]

I've handled tons and tons of different hop ups for the Glock and Maple leaf far exceeds all of them in performance.

Go with Maple Leaf

Note: the heavier the BBs the better with the Maple Leaf Hop Up I use .3g or higher

Awesome, thanks for the info! Do you use the 60's?

More or less the same, lower the degree is softer, and meant for less fps.

I run 60 and 70, but no concrete data for you unfortunately :P
