Mine is like that. Is is practical? I'd say it's the only way to go!!

Full body coverage is only suitable for archers that don't lay down to crawl.

A real military ghillie suit is not "juted" in the front. It's reenforced to protect when crawling on rocks and other painfull peices of ground.

I also removed most of the buttons (base BDU) so it's confortable to rest on hard ground.

Ok one more quick question guys. i have pulled a 4ft by 13ft sheet of burlap and have another 4ft by 9ft sheet that im going to cut strips out of and maybe pull a bit more. Heres the question though im wondering how much burlap it took to build your guys suits? Im having major trouble debating if i have enough or not because once dye day roles around i want to only have to do it once.

Thanks!

I odn't know exactly how big the sheet was, but I bought two rolls from Canadian tire for two ghillies suits. I too split them all down to threads. One ghillie suit is complete and RaiDen sitll needs to finish his.

It depend on how much you cover and how thick you do it. I'd say that you would need a roll or two for one ghillie. For the price of the jute, it's better to have surplus than making another trip to the store.

Here's a W.I.P. photo of my ghillie. I have the netting glued onto the BDU top and boonie, and the jute attatched to both, except for the sleeves on the jacket.

All that's left are the sleeves, and than the pants, and than shoe-gooing some elastic straps every so often as veggie loops. Than it's time to rub dirt into it, drag it around the field, crawl around in it, etc. I'm hoping it'll be ready by next Saturday.

I'm not doing a full ghillie, the front is bare, and later on some of that material from those surplus duffles will be sewn onto the chest, thighs and knees, and forearms.

Any critiques/tips for the skrim? (this is my first ghillie)

Looking good.
I suggest adding a little bit of brown in your thread. OD spray paint come up brown on jute.

You got a very good start there.
What type of net did you use?
