I have moved to a boafeng u5vr unfortunately everyone else i airsoft with is still using cheapy walkie talkies.

i have been researching for days on setting this up correctly. i understand that if they are on channel 1 i need to be on frequency 462.562?

is it really this simple, just program that frequency in to the pad and good to go?

i have made sure that CTCSS or DCS are not enabled in the menu.

will the power of 1 watt default on these "frs" frequencies? i dont fully understand the power rating legality in Canada in regards to channels/frequencies

Yes it is really that simple. Find the FRS/GMRS frequency list on Google and program those bitches in! Happy hunting

There is also a free program called Chirp you can use to program your radio if you have a kenwood/USB adaptor cord

If everyone else is using FRS,why bother troubling yourself using a UV5R?...just buy a FRS. I'm a licensed ham and still often use my Motorola Talkabout FRS radio if that is what others are using.
