South African Vest. Cheap repro. 40-50$. All you'll ever need. THey are good, light, easy to crawl with.

You can cut off the side utility pouches if they get in your way.

Another option is to use Aircrew Survival/ Tac Helicopter vest... it wouldn't be the first time one got used for that. You can usually find them fairly priced.

Here's one version... some have holsters attached on left side(cross draw)...
