VFC Bushing Help Removal

Hey guys,

I really need help to remove stock bushings on a VFC shell. I'll be upgrading to ceramic bearings. Do I need any special tools to do this?

Thanks!

Google up "Modify Bushing Installation Key" and you will find a place to buy it.

omg why would you want to replace those smexy bushings ._.

you can just get a punch and knock them out with a hammer.. a tap should pop it right out.

I use a screw driver bit extension to pop bushings out. The more flat surface area the better against the bushing if you want to keep them to reuse.

Knock them towards the inside of the gearbox... take the half of the gearbox and put it on a flat surface.. of find the most flat surface you can find across the sides of the shell and tap the bushings out. I use a 2x4 to put the gearbox on.

Depending how tight the holes are you could just press them in with any flat surface, the tool is unnecessary.

Hammer the bushings out, press fit the bearings in. Modify ceramics in my experience are very tight in VFC shells and do not need to be glued.

I will mention that my experience with Modify ceramics was very underwhelming, two of them were seized out of the package, and they take up a lot of space which made shimming my fat Siegeteks impossible, there wasn't enough space.

If you are doing any kind of high performance build I would also advise leaving a bushing underneath the spur gear. That single bushing takes the most stress is usually the first to fail.

use a hammer and a pin punch of correct size, If you are installing or removing bearings however make sure you only strike the outer race of the bearing

thanks guys,
that was my friend asking... but yes, he found a review about VFC bushings and now he will stick to it rather replacing them with ball bearing.

I know the fact that the barrel nut for vfc e series are really tight and hard to take off. Just don't wanna damage it.
thanks for all the help!
