Quick Kraken Clarification

First off, I've read just about every review on the Kraken that I could find on this site. A few questions still linger in my mind however, and I was hoping someone could give me some clarification on them if it isn't too much trouble?

1. Apparently, there are newer generations of Krakens? Whats the difference between Gen.1 and so on? Do they still dissassemble the same way as stock TM AK's? Has the FPS decreased on some?

2. I've also read that they are becoming less compatible with TM and aftermarket parts? (I seriously hope this isnt true) which parts have trouble fitting in?

Thanks in advance for the responses! Anything helps!

At one point the Krakens were having quality control issues it was causing the cylinders to be non compatible. But now QC seems to be back were it was. Also, I have purchased one, and it needed a few things.
A new shim job, a new cylinder head, piston head, and cylinder. It came with a ported cylinder, it needs a non ported. Guarder v3 AK cylinder heads DO NOT fit.
She got a good battery as well, but that's rare. She has been running MAG brand mags and has had good results.

So what I recommend if you get one is:
A shim job
Cylinder head
piston head
Mags
Battery
and if needed a non ported cylinder.

Yours came with a ported cylinder? Weird. Mine didn't.

Another question just came into my head.... since the Kraken apparently shoots 370 fps out of the box... what would be the spring powering that, and would it be a "high-powered" one? a PDI 130? Reason I'm asking is that I'm putting together a parts list so I need to make sure I buy the right type of bushings.

PDI springs = junk

Assuming it has good air seal, a Prometheus Ms110 would be around that mark. In a gun with good airseal and an M16 length barrel a Prom Ms110 can hit around 390fps, in an M4 length barrel around 360fps.

What does spring power have anything to do with what kind of bushings you get?

There's not much difference in different bushings, get any decent brand really (but not bearing bushings).

I read a sticky on this site about upgrading that talked about certain bushings being weaker for higher powered springs. I guess I must've misunderstood, my bad.

Bearings are what you might be thinking of. Ball bearing type bushings are designed for high rate of fire (ROF) guns but typically won't stand up to a high fps spring for long. I have plenty of remains of internals in my shop from clients who though otherwise to testify to that. High fps springs should use a good quality solid metal bushing.

Ah perfect, thanks for clearing that up Darklen.

Even low power springs can frag bearings. My SystemA drop in complete highspeed mechbox with bearings had one blow out on me, 7mm too. Thing only shoots 320fps.

I had a 2 guns shooting near 380 or more that were m4 length (363mm) w/a prometheous m110.
the Xm8 was shooting 385 average
p90 with m4 inner barrel 372 average
Both were w/ systema 6.04mm inners
You might want to try a m100 since Krakens have a 455mm inner once thats upgraded to a 6.04 or 6.03 you might be over 400 w/ a m110.

Has anyone crono'd a kracken out of the box? I did a little work on my gun (new metal body) and a thing or two. All stock! 396-402 fps.
