Lightbulb Returning to airsoft recon build spring to gas

Hi everyone, I am returning to airsoft after a 1 year break after having a very bad skiing accident, I am planning on returning to my former role of recon and team inteligence, used to run a custom spring vsr-10 built full PDI( had well over 1500$ in that gun).Anyways I am returning to airsoft!

This time I am going to try out the Gas Snipers, I have a couple question about gas snipers ?

For the Gas sniper questions I would like to know:

- What kind of upgrades can you do to a gas sniper?
- Are they better then spring (precisionwise, not consistency)?
- Are they alot more fun to play?
- Are gas conversion anygood? (for example the new ares MSR700 will have a gas conversion later from spring)

Alright now for the gun choice.

To start, I am looking to spend around 500$ for a base gun.

I heard that Ares guns arent so good performance-wise but GREAT wall hangers?

I owned a G&G EBR M14 and it was very heavy, is the WE EBR lighter?

I hve a couple of guns I was looking at, being the WE m14ebr or maybe a tanaka m24 just no l96's please in sick of seeing them those were my two choices, I like the WE tech because there a good upgrades available from RA Tech

What would be some good suggestions? TAking into account my budget, upgradability, weight, something Im going to have a Ton of fun with?

After some extra research, I am going to buy a WE tech EBR as there are several upgrades available and lets face it! ITS AN EBR!! , Getting the tanaka and upgrading it will cost more then the ebr upgraded.

Do you guys have any objections to this? Would you advise me different?

You are going to be trading some consistency WRT velocity and accuracy for the ease of a lighter bolt travel with a gas rifle. Just keep that in mind when you make your decision.

I agree that there will be some, but I want to try something new then spring rifles, and gas does offer quite a bit more realism then their spring counterparts, this is going to be a long term project rifle so Im focusing on getting a solid base gun, and I have talked to a few WE M14 owners and they seem to have quite solid rifles once they are modded correctly, ex HPA rig, tbb, etc etc

Looks just like a ruger 10/22 with an m4 stock and grip set on it. (yes it exists in real life)
Also it is used as a sniper/marksman weapon in real life too. (mostly with the original stock tho but ive seen folks put real 10/22 stocks on the kjw one

My buddy has one and it feels great to shoulder. Feel like going recon everytime I hold it. It's small stature makes it great for quick movements and concealment. Has light recoil with crisp action, super accurate with just ratech tbb and hop up rubber upgrade.

You have ability to use co2 mags as well. Go put your hands on one, i think you'll be surprise. Never judge a bo....rifle by its appearance.

I also greatly misjudged it, consider owning own myself now too since Paypal gave me back my $500

If you go with the M14, I had one mostly stock except for a nineball hopup rubber, and that thing would break the laws of physics, i had tuned it for CQB so it only shot about 300 FPS, but it went perfectly straight every time to atleast 200 feet...
and FYI we M14 is very heavy

I owned a G&G M14 EBR-L and it was heavy but still gameable, I think my choice is quite clear, after my accident I dont think im going to be going all rambo, so I will be sitting back and watching the fighting a picking off from a distance. M14 seems like a good choice, and it realy does looking fantastic!

But something I really do like about Gas guns is that if you put on an HPA rig I can just tone down my FPS to what ever I want...

the we M14 does break though, the most costly being the trigger box cracking, I think the steel upgrade box is over $200, the valve knocker on mine also broke, but its a simple part that I was able to easily fabricate a replacement for

just for the sake of being more info, mine also broke the faux bolt cover, and cracked a nozzle

not saying this will happen to you, I shot the hell out of my M14, but I'm just putting this out there for you
