From 1 Gundoc To Another

This goes out to fellow Gundoc's No offense but this is not for the guy who just tinkers but as someone who actually charges for thier services. Im not looking for exact numbers but What do you usually charge Per Hour for what service and my main question do you charge for time trouble shooting? ie one of those fuckin problems ya just cant figure out that isnt just a quick thing you overlooked but a serious issue.

Example Took 6 hrs to do what shoulda taken 1.5-2 hrs to do minus the issue.

We charge $70/h for the first hour, $20 for each additional. We rarely, rarely charge more than an hour, even if it takes us 10+. Finding out the problem all along was some little stupid thing we should have caught in 5 mins makes us feel stupid and we don't want to charge the customer for that :P.

However, if the issue is caused by customer's fault or stupidity then you certainly should charge for the time!

$20 an hour for people I know, $25 for everyone else. Most things can be fixed/upgraded in about an hour (spring changes, putting in upgraded parts or replacing broken ones) or a little over so I just charge them that.
If it's more complicated then I'll charge them more of course.

If it took you 8 instead of 2 because you didn't know what was going on. Or working on something new. You should be honest and charge fair.

I charge $30 per hour. I also Have a flat rate for many things. Because I service up to 5 guns a day somedays I find it easier to have a rate for most simple jobs.

-spring change $30
-shim and lube$40
- install barrel $15
-soldering work $2.50 per connection

This year I have a 10 and 25 point inspection and service program. This allows players to drop off a gun for a tune-up or a teardown,service and rebuild. These packages I do for $30 and Platinum package is $50.

I usually charge on a flat rate, mostly in the price range of george. For the trouble shooting, I do not charge it, as I have to open it up to change the parts that have broke, just as if I knew the job to do before opening it. If the customer decides not to have the job done, then I charge according to time spent on it.

I stay in retirement by charging $150.00/hr. I limit my tech work to no more than 5-6 hrs a week as I have a life etc. Despite this, outrageous charge I go through a dozen guns a month. Way way way down from the 30+


I don't do spring changes, shim services or cosmetic modification I send them to other people
I don't charge a flat rate for anything.
I don't build >1.7joule guns for anyone who hasn't been around for over 3 years.

Similar flat rate system as george. Any work not covered by a flat rate is $30 hour. But i don't charge for those 6 and 8 hour sessions of frustration. I take the value of what i am working on into account. Total has to be under $50 for labour portion in most cases.

I charge by the job, honestly if I charged by the hour I'd have to charge $150 an hour to make the same and it would turn everyone away! lol
But I always make the customer buy the parts for expensive upgrades now. That way I only have to charge them $100 for FTKs instead of $500

And if they wanna do it themselves instead of paying $100, they'll be back later and it'll be even more expensive cause I'll have to buy parts lol

Okay so my pricing is pretty much on par with every one elses, good to know Thanks for the input and feel free to keep the thread alive.

And im the only gundoc within 300kms but the good news is there really isnt alot of players in this area yet so im not completly overwhelmed........yet.
