First Gun Purchase :)

Hi folks

Well with much debate and a million differing opinions as to whats best for a "noob" it boiled down to 2 choices for me.

Socom diablo (tan)
King arms full metal M4.

The winner here is the M4. By far the most recommended by all.

Seems I can pretty much make the diablo with it, have the full metal body and come out ahead in the money game. Winning all around

Going to hit up my first CQB this friday. Hope the peeps there are respectable and it goes well

1911 full metal gas side arm is also being considered

Glad i found this forum and props to the peeps kind enough to PM me with advise and being cool.

I'm going to say the King Arms, all the way, but this is really a Baked Potatoes or Mashed Potatoes, or Strawberry or Raspberry Jam. thing. My Advice go to the store and get your hands on both. see what you like more.

Ha! I fired the Diablo and loved it. Im hoping when i go to the store i get that same "ya this is awesome" feeling when i test fire the king arms. Cant see why i wouldn't, its real world fps is higher the Diablo only clocked 330.

I have extensive gun doctor experience with both of these guns.

I strongly recommend the King Arms M4 over the Diablo. I do not recommend the Diablo for anyone who isn't a gun doctor. The gun has some quirks and requires a non-trivial amount of tech work to stabilize.

I do like the G&G internals, the Nylon body is very light and strong, and have turned mine into a monster, but I feel better recommending the KA M4 to a beginner.

330 fps is fine. You're getting an assault rifle so you don't need anything with a super high FPS, notwithstanding the fact that a lot of games limit the FPS to 350 and under. I don't know anything about the diablo but the KA seems to be quite popular due to its price and quality.

edit: oops wrote this while Macie wrote. He's the Dr. so listen to him.

330 is definitely good enough for cqb playing, and depending where u are played may be shooting to hot. make sure u know the field fps limits before u go otherwise u might not be able to run your new gun if theres no gun doc on site to do a spring swap. also most people will tell u to get it to a gun doc first because most mechbox are not properly tuned from factory

It's an AEG all AEGs fire the same to me. And Grizzly in Ontario most games are 400, and even 350 is only CQB and requires the simplest of spring changes.

roger that cobalt. But would 70 fps really make that much of a difference considering the average range most people with assault rifles shoot from?

I suggest you get age verified and then buy a Tokyo Marui rifle.

Age verification takes a long time from what I'm gathering by all the complaints. The $279 price tag for a full metal gun that can be super tweaked internally and personalized externally really appeals to me for a couple of reasons. Lower start up cost - i can get it and a full metal side arm for almost the same cost as the diablo. Full metal.

Out of the box I should be able to get right into the game no hassles.

If for some reason I do not like the sport or cant play for a period of time I wont feel like Im sitting on unused money/resources. I dont see myself not liking this as long as the people playing in my area are decent people

M4
Side arm
Eye protection.
Vest for extra clips and side arm
Gloves.

I should be ready to unload

Yes it can. I had a SCAR-L that shot around 320 and was teaked like crazy to be DMR accurate. Yet barely ranged with 400 FPS guns. Now add 40FPS and I would have been singing (360FPS is perfect for BBs).

Remember 400 fps is a limit not a goal

No doubt mr inked

For me accuracy is king. A heavier bb at lower fps would be my preference.

Also remember that we measure energy, not FPS directly. So you can have anything that shoots the limit (400fps or 425fps or whatever) on 0.20g BB's. If you're shooting heavier BB's, your FPS limit would be lower because it would be shooting at the same energy.
