I assume it's a good barrel if you use it properly, the way it was intended.

These inner barrels are designed for guns shooting 1J or LESS. Anything higher will give you the spiraling "knuckleball" trajectory that you're experiencing.

One Joule is equivalent to 328fps with 0.20g BBs. This is equivalent to 278fps with 0.28g BBs.

If you were going to put in a modified FAMAS that shoot around 250. Would you get good performance out of it.
That's a very unfair statement to make. The barrel is of Japanese origin, and meant for Japanese domestic use where their guns are limited by law to 1 Joule or less. For guns that shoot within this limitation, this is one of the best barrels you can get. I personally use Twist barrels in all of my guns that shoot around 1Joule or below.

It is documented that going beyond 1 Joule will affect accuracy. My personal level of acceptance for degrading performance is at 350fps with 0.20g BBs. Beyond that, it's useless. Between 328fps and 350fps, you can see a degrading level of performance, but it's not so horrible that you still couldn't hit a target.

Still, the ideal limit is <1Joule.

I was not saying anything negative about Japanese airsoft.

I was asking if I should put it on my FAMAS because of my lower FPS

Sorry, I was not implying you were saying negative things about their laws. It was just the statement about the barrel itself.

For your FAMAS and it's low velocity, it would be a perfect candidate.

It's probably the best damn barrel I ever used if you play within it's parameters. My tm sig witch shoots 330 fps with .25g outshoots and out perform my aps witch is equiped with a tn 6.02 tighbore, .36g bbs, hopup system and a 650 fps.

I want vondniks sig!!!

Seriouse though, what is the lengths of TK barrels and do they fit clones?? I would put one into my cqb weapon when I get it, but if its that sweet I may swap out my m110 for a 1J spring to put in a tk for my outdoor weapon. What do you think? I do have to put up with 30km/h winds on most days though...

I guess seams actually play a pretty big role in stability :P. I was thinking about how you could get a knuckle ball effect with a perfect sphere, and that's what was bothering me. I didn't really think seams had that big of an impact, until I finally remembered that you can throw a knuckleball with a baseball.. then I looked it up and heh,

TK barrels come in lengths from as short as 90mm up to 510mm. There may be longer lengths, but can't recall it off the top of my head.

For AEG's, the shortest length is the MP5K, so as long as your barrel isn't shorter than that (I highly doubt it would be), then you should be okay for fitment.

Higher velocity is better for punching through brush and battling winds. In that case, you may be better off with a barrel other than a TK Twist

I highly do NOT recommend sawing precision inner barrels.

The Tanio Koba Twist barrels, in particular, are coated with a finish that flakes once an edge is cut on to it. Secondly, you'll also lose the benefit of the crater cut at the tip. If you MUST cut it down, do NOT use a saw... do it properly with a lathe if you want a perpendicular and smooth cut. A lathe will also be able to turn a crown in to it.

You'll have to measure your CQB-R to see what inner barrel length it can take. Some have 10.5" outer barrels. Some are 10.3".

AEG inner barrels are measured end to end. Get the next shortest model from your requirement (figure out if you want it to run through the flash hider, through a suppressor, hiding just behind the flash hider ports, or hiding deeper in. This decision may be based on what's available to you.

The available lengths that I'm aware of are:

257mm (P90)
365mm (M4A1 / SIG551 / XM177E2)
459mm (AK-47 / G3)
509mm (AUG / M14 / M16)
229mm (MP5 / AK Beta)
300mm (M733 / MC51 Long / Thompson)

I will second this comment. DO NOT cut your inner barrel unless you have the right equipment and a hacksaw is not the right equipment period. Before buying a inner barrel for your gun make sure its the correct length for the set up you wish to use.

whoops i guess two of my tk inners are fuct then eh?...i used a ban saw to chop them...the other three i was totally focused and lathed them clean...but the first two i used the ban saw and romed the inner edge with a dremel...i cleaned out all the burrs and even washed them in a mild solvent bath...do you think the bath hurt the coating at all?

from this point on i know nothing...illusion is my alice cooper and i am wayne...soooooo not worthy...

so did i get my shit right then?...using my tk inners on gbb's running an av of 420+fps, i defeated (somewhat) the knuckling by using really heavy bb's...this is what the results are showing...i get a slight knuckling, you can't tell by looking...but the target sheets speak volumes...my grouping with a .36g, a tk twist and an fps av of 420-430 consistent...is giving me a grouping of less than a half inch at 10yrds, a grouping of three quarters to a half inch at 50yrds and and a significant 1-1.5 inch grouping at 80yds...these results are from an indoor...

how come no one decides to listen to all the people who've been around and are telling them to only use the barrels in guns under 1 joule...?
