"Cheap" and "Good quality" can never be in the same sentence unless it's this sentence. This apply to most things in airsoft and gun accessories.

camcorders use constant IR for their NVD, doesn't work in a tactical situation if anyone else on the field has NVG. You might as well be waiving a flashlight around lol

Personally, I've used a couple sets of helmet mounted Gen 1's. They are complete garbage, unless your indoors. You may as well let your eyes adjust. Gen 3 is gnarly, and obviously expensive. I personally haven't experienced Gen 2. But I've heard Gen 3 is far superior, to the point of "don't bother with anything less". Obviously budget is going to play a factor, but steer clear of Gen 1.

Gen 3 for $2000!? Where are you shopping? I can get Gen 2 for $1500, but the cheapest Gen goggles I can get my hands on are $3000 minimum.

I haven't seen any gen 3's for less than $3K, and gen 2's for $2-2.5K. I've looked at the companies selling nvgs in Canada (well, those that turn up using Google, anyways), and unless there's a secret squirrel place folks are sourcing them from for less, those are the starting prices.

So to those saying that they can get them for less, it's disingenuous to say that you can get them for less, without providing a source (or source and method, if they're optics are actually being shipped from the States).
