carry helmet on back ?

Ok I have to ask , I have seen this in a few video's where enroute to a location , people will take off thier helmets & it looks like they kind of just latch them on thier back somehow .. when I look at my kit ( a wasatch with hydration) I can see no easy way to just reach back & stow my helmet on me anywhere ,.& I dont see an easy one handed way to retrieve it either ? so whats the trick ? or is it just movie magic I am seeing ?

I've never seen nor heard of such a thing, and after googling for it, the closest things I can find are people strapping their motorcycle helmets to their backpacks.

I would say if you have molle on your shoulders you can paracord/bungeecord your helmet to it

There are little helmet pouches you can get with snaps, that hold it back there nicely. It takes a moment or two to put it in though.

Other than a simple carabiner like was mentioned, lots of pack have a webbing attachment that goes over a helmet and holds it in place.

I had seen it in some vids I cant find , but the most recent example was in the movie Sicario near the end the woman in the tunnel has her fast helmet on ,..she just takes it off & literally just drops it over her shoulder with one hand & thats it ,..it is secured & stays there ? It was seeing this again that made me wonder if there is some sort of attachment or accessory ,...but since no one either seems to understand what I am talking about or has seen it I guess I have either misunderstood what I saw or , it doesnt exist

I had a look at the scene, when she takes it off initially she hooks it on her hip then the next time its over her left shoulder. A bunch of the other operators also have their helmets hooked on their shoulders.

My guess is either a carabineer or malice clip of some sort.

I used to hook my hard hat over my canteen when I was working on wild fires sometimes (damn side impact helmets cooked your brains) or on straps on the top of my utility pouch depending on how long I wanted it off

If you rigged up some para cord and duct/gun tape (all spec ops style) you could easily just dump yer headgear off towards the back and it would stay there relatively especially if you dump it back the pull it tight with a draw string setup of some sort.
