Looking for decals for my M60
I have an M60 on order and I want to dress it up a bit in a vietnam theme.
I was thinking about gettting some decals and maybe do some hand scrawled slogans on the huge blank box mag and butt stock. (you know peace sighns, pinup girls, etc...) What would you guys suggest? Links to logos or other peoples work would be apprechiated! |

I've never seen decals or hand written slogans on m60s or many weapon for that matter. Those were more on helmets and the very occasionnal m16. And even then I've rarely seen it on an M16.

Most M60's were operated by a 2 man crew-- gunner and loader so the box mag was rarely fixed unless it was used in a helo. So like it was said before "trench art" wouldn't be seen on them. But if you still want to do it Google is your friend try looking up helmet pics and just transfer it to your box mag. The only things I remember seeing from back then weapons wise was the odd Special Forces gun tape camo jobs, but never any slogans.

Yea I hear you, but I am more looking for a themed work of art than hard realism. My m60 is a mk43 which is not really Nam era anyway.
Thanks for the links! |

A C-ration can wired on below the belt is a nice period touch.

Suggestion for your M-60
I was a door gunner on a Huey UH-1 during the Vietnam. My weapon was the M-60E2 hung by a simple bungee cord from the starboard door. I loved that weapon. It got myself, the crew and the bird out of hellish situations. On mine I had painted a peace symbol and a heart symbol in white on the shoulder stock end. I would suggest going to the link I provided for these symbols in white vinyl decals. There is a Peace, Heart and a Music symbol in this ebay item. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PEACE-LOVE-M...-/270989631955.
I also had mission complete tally hash marks for 194 missions from 1970 to 1972 Nick Retired CMSGT, USAF Last edited by njofaustin; July 28th, 2013 at 03:44.. |
