Condoms do not guarantee safe sex any more. A friend of mine wore one and was shot by the woman's husband!

I can't wait to see some mags in those. How much time and material did those take anyways?

Bout a square foot of material, and about 2 feet of webbing. I know, doesn't look like much is there, but (4x) 4 inch strips and then (2x) 6 inch strips for the back lace. Then I guess another two for the pull strap.

Takes me about an hour to make, if I don't get distracted by other things. Like my Ghillie suit :P

OH! I finally got what the hell you're asking me. Talking to Testie on the phone and he was saying "Morb is asking of your hot cutting your webbing?"

Actually, I don't have a heat knife, so I am cutting it with scissors however I do go and burn the frays with a lighter. Not the best I know, but its all I can do with out a heat knife. ((one of the many things I have to fix... -.-...))

soldering iron? just file the tip flat like a knife blade. works good and way cheaper then a real hot knife.

Real hot knife, $30 Decent Soldiering Iron $40...

Also, Soldering Iron doesn't work the best either. Doesn't make a straight cut I find. Always wavy everywhere type cut when getting webbing with it.

I bought a desk-mounted jobbie a few years back. The lighter method is only good for so long, the hot knife is much cleaner. And faster. MUCH faster.

Some people hot cut the nylon as well, but you need a very different cutter for that and really, why bother? Just tuck it under and darn it.

Oh one more - if you're using a grommet or snap press, a pointy-headed soldering iron is perfect for piercing the webbing or Cordura to put the rivet through. Take a piece of plywood and mark a large X on it. The X should be large enough that you can see it when you put material or webbing down on it. Drill a hole (about the size on the soldering iron tip) in the center of the X. Lay down your material with your mark centered roughly and feel for the hole, then punch through with the hot iron and it'll make a perfect hole, cauterized.

Even better, you can make a jig with plywood on the bottom and a piece of 1/4" ply on the top, secure the top to the bottom with a hinge on the outside, and drill through both. Then when you put your material down, you cose the top, and you know exactly where to burn through.
