Docter red dot turning off in the shade

Hey guys, so I bought this red dot a while back:

https://www.torontoairsoft.com/DOCTE...CK_p_5290.html

I realized it only worked when a light was pointing at it directly (In like a 45 degree cone from the front), and in the dark it would completely turn off. Is there any way to fix this so that it would work in the dark?

Thanks!

Did you try replacing the battery? It should work in all lighting conditions it just adjusts itself based on how bright it is.

I'm going to say you bought a really shitty clone... I would of gone with an Ali express clone or Depot one :/

I think some of them are supposed to turn off in the dark. I have one that has a cover you put on it to turn it off. Best to look for one with a switch.

Doctors out to lunch

Yeah, I noticed the same thing while I was being a couch potato covid chairsofter. It bugged me at first but then I thought hmm, ok. Good training to transition from dot to actual sites or invest in Tritium or glow dots.

I'd wager the light sensor is the culprit but at $50 with an all metal housing, glass lens, cool looks with nearly all the correct trades and accessories, it's a trade off. To put things into perspective, the TM RMR is all plastic and God help it when a bb hits it and you silently curse your life while trying to remain calm under fire.

Put a 500 Lumen tac/vomit producing strobe on the pistol and it will light your path.

You'll laugh and they'll hurl

You can try contacting the seller or the manufacturer to see if there's a way to adjust the sensitivity or if there's a specific way to use it in low light conditions.
