And in the event that one chooses to legally own a firearm, odds are they have learned at least some safe handling procedures using replicas in a controlled environment.

Many firearms owners have never handled airsoft or paintball, or even a pellet gun.
How does " playing airsoft for 15 years and never once owned an actual firearm" make you any less covered by the "training for violence" comment?
I've seen worse behaviour and safety habit from airsofters than I have ever seen with real firearms.
