The holes are still on the front face of the lens... for greatest effectiveness, the holes should exist at the very top of the frame, where the foam currently exists.
Vents at the front of the lens at the bottom would be fine for drawing air in... but don't forget, that it's also closer to your mouth, which would be another contributor for humidity source when you're breathing heavily.
