Any of the Baofeng/Pofung UV5 series will do great justice. I have a BF-F8+, part of the same series, and the performance vs cost is really exceptional.

So now I've been loaned a USB programming cable to use CHIRP for the radio.
Had a heck of a time getting the drivers to install and run with either the disk softwares or with Chirp....
