Personally, since it's only Airsoft I buy specific surplus items for Milsim, and for the rest I try to base my equipment off the pre-existing model with replicas or something that looks similar.

True, but the milsim part of me demands separate parts. The all-purpose chest pieces are good for the individual, but from what I hear in the bigger picture they don't work that well.
