40mm Grenade launchers

I've seen many different types of 40mm launchers on the market and was wondering how many people actually have and use these. I'd like to get a rough number of how many people use these weapons on the field. whether a stand alone or gun mounted.

Thanks

I got caught up in the hype regarding these products http://airsoftpyrotechnics.com/ so I went out and bought an underslung 40mm launcher. The pyro products for the most part haven't made it to canada (aside from the chalk marking ones) so that has so far been a bust, and all other shower projectiles are very underwhelming.

As soon as I got the launcher I had instant buyers remorse. The launcher adds a fair bit of weight to the front of the gun, more than I'd want to be running around with for 5-6 hour outdoor game. The whole 40mm system for airsoft is just too much work for crappy results in my opinion.

I've only been playing a year, but in the 16 games I've been to I've never seen anyone carry a 40mm style launcher, let alone seen one used.

I've seen a couple used... but often more trouble than it's worth.. it's basically airsoft buckshot... not a lot of range, a pretty big spread. Generally there's 2 reactions.. one of 'wtf, I just got BB bukkakked, much lulz'. and 'WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM'.

I see little use for underslungs and even less for the revolver launcher. Outdoors it'll be out ranged easily and indoors it tends to be a room clearer if you care to use it as such, minus the people who overreact because they're twats.

They look cool, but they are heavy. Not to mention a shell is $50-80 on top of that.

You would be better with a ICS Grenade launcher, instead of strapping it onto your M4/SCAR. My opinion of course.

I would only see it useful in CQB.. but then again.. I would rather use a tornado grenade to clear a room.

People who whine in CQB shouldn't play CQB! It's CQB for a reason #nomercy.

Ive had every type of launcher. The ICS GLM, the CAW, Both short and long gun mounted ones. As well as the short and long madbull push button ones. IMO they are a ton of fun when you get to bust one off. but sadly more dead weight then anything else. I play mostly outdoor and almost never use them there. When in CQB however they are a life saver. Pop one down a hall and everyone dies. Its a great feeling.

Its all personal pref. If you dont mind the extra $$$ and how heavy they make your gun. If your willing to put the prep in to clean, lube and load them, then power to you. I still have mine mounted and loaded when out door just in case I get the shot. Cause damn does it ever feel good when you get that epic 40mm kill.

Lol, I've seen this one guy at UA with a should strap full of 40mm, and a grenade launcher.

Has atleast 15-20 shells on him.

I own a 203 for my Block 2 m4, but it's more for show than anything, and until I make some shims for it so it doesn't have a slight wobble, it's just going to sit on my shelf.

It they had better range I would love to send a handful of BBs toward the group 100ft away, but usually you can't achieve that range

I run stand alone 40mm as a primary at UA regularly. Lost of fun and pretty effective if u carry enough ammo. For in door propane shells can be bought for as low at $20 each. Outdoor co2 Shells actually get better range then u think if u plump enough psi in.

If ur looking for the best gun u don't run 40mm. But u can get ten kills with a AEG, but the one with a 40mm is the one u will talk about.

Below how i have fun with 40mm

Really depends on where you play, the rules in place and the shell you use.

Locally the rules for all grenades are that ricochet BB's from them score as a kill. So you can bounce the shower into a structure which is very realistic IMHO.

It's very difficult to get the shot angle correct for anything but direct fire (inside 50feet). They are definitely best employed into a confined space with lots of room for the BBs to bounce.

Also I think a lot of people trying to run the cheapest, lightest BBs possible in them and that really isn't the recipe for getting range from a single-dump gas weapon. Going with at least a .3g gets a lot more energy even out of propane shells. The longer shells also seem to get better efficiency from a gas charge but at the expense of taking up quite a bit more room.

There are a few folks out East who do this well I hear. This is what they passed around last time the question was asked.

A) Charge shells with Co2 for max PSI.

B) Launcher must have steel firing pin to trip shell.

I have one too..

And for sure with CO2 you can achieve 100feet.
By the way, except madbull XPB4, I was wondering if some people can suggest me some CO2 brand (but paintball style with the big hole), less expensive than madbull but still reliable..not like Army force. (available in Canada)

Speaking from experience;

40mm is hard to use, heavy to carry, expensive to buy and tedious to maintain.

In addition to 12x 40mm CO2 shells, I carry up to six Tornado grenades, up to two claymore mines and around 6 or 7 smoke grenades. I'm loaded for bear when it comes to explosives.

I don't mind saying I'm a slow-moving player. I don't mind saying that sometimes my MP5 looks a lot nicer when I'm slogging all this shit through the bush. Because...

If you know what you're doing you can use 40mm shells to DEVASTATING effect. Your short to medium range firepower is unmatched. So then make sure the rifle your 40mm is attached to has its ducks in a row.

Grenade loadouts are difficult, sure... But they are eminently more satisfying.

Thats awesome. Thanks for some of the pics posted. Maybe everyone who has a launcher can post a pic of their loadout?

Thanks for the help.

Here is a pic of what I usually use. The shells I kinda just built up over time, when I found I would run out in a game and buy a few more.

I started with a m203 but then moved into stand alones. I started with the top left ares and just kept wanting to try a different one. The m320 is my favorite especially after I added the madbul agx. Smart players would charge me in cqb after the firstshot so the second shot helps.

The ICS glm is by far the worst of the ones I own. Very light and plastic all over, plus I find its not very solid an wont even hold together well enough to fire. Plus I found the 6 shots is too difficult to reload mid game. Could be I just got a lemon too I suppose.
