R-hop patch replacement?

Question for all you guys with hopped barrels; how often do you replace the patch? I purchased an umbrella armoury rhopped prommy barrel from evike about a year ago and I am thinking that the patch looks a little rough. My aeg has lost a lot of accuracy recently and I'm questioning if this is the reason

Thanks,

never?

I didn't think an r hop patch needed to be changed but just wanted to double check.

I've seen patches that have cracked or come loose. Sometimes from user error, sometimes simply from bad luck. IR material tends to turn yellow ish over time, but it doesn't seem to affect accuracy. I tend to re-do my R Hops once a year or so to keep them looking fresh, not because of any fault in accuracy.

I have seen two R Hops done by Umbrella, both looked okay on the outside but neither was flush on the inside.

I can agree to the flushness of the inner diameter. This one was just a fraction of a mm recessed into the window, but recessed none the less. It still fired very accurately though. Gonna do another full breakdown and see if there is a different explanation. Maybe a small amount of air escaping from somewhere.

Thanks for the clarity pestobanana

Only time I've had to redo Rhops is when they were either done wrong in the first place, or were ruined as a result of another failure.
Due to the long area of contact compared to standard nubbed rubbers, and due to the thicker material providing more support and higher resistance to tearing, they tend to last much longer, offering high performance for way longer than any other type of hop rubber, including flat hops, despite still being a very soft material.

I've never had to redo one due to 'wear/tear'. redid one because I thought it looked ugly, yes. redid it because it didn't shoot right because of a poor install, yes.

Umbrella uses the original black material, I believe people tested this material to at least 1 million rounds at some point through dsg builds and they were fine.

The one umbrella install I have looks fine on the outside, it did not come down straight when in the hopup unit, but according to the owner, shot straight.

I took the whole barrel assembly apart and cut a new nub and it seems to be back to normal. No idea what the issue was but I appreciate the facts. I thought it would last a while but a million shots is pretty impressive!
