But the Prog4 ones work fine eh?

RacingManiac January 29th, 2010 20:02

ProG4 one should work fine...

SD ones needs to be fitted, since they are still the tilting barrel type, you need to break some sharp corners with files to make sure it works smoothly....

I use SDs in my 1911 since I like to have the realistic barrel lockup and once fitted they have little to no play.

Ok.. I've solved the baseplate leaks I had. But now, I'm still stuck with inlet valve orings jumping out everytime I trill to fill it... Any idea to prevent this from happening?

RacingManiac January 29th, 2010 20:17

This is the O-ring that sits in the fill valve inlet? If thats it it shouldn't matter other than not spewing the gas out when full....Most stock Japanese mag don't have it....

Conker January 29th, 2010 20:20

Yes, that's it, the one we can see from the top.

Well, maybe it's my propane adapter (Madbull XG02) but without it, it just sends gaz all over the place.

What brand mag is this? I've never had any fill valve o-rings pop out and I'm not aware of any external o-rings in any Tokyo Marui magazine I've used...

For a TM 5.1, would you guys suggest a PDI 6.01 or a Tanio koba twist barrel (6.04?) ?? Which one would have improved accuracy and overall better performance?

WE mags do that, both with capa and m9 mags

PDI shoots more consistently/accurately than stock, and has the highest velocity of all upgrade barrels (except for the super tightbore custom barrels...), but the BBs still act like any spherical projectile shot from a smoothbore... you have to lob it at distances (medium to far.)

Nine Ball 6.03mm or PDI 6.05mm inner barrels shoot with lower velocity, but are more consistent and more accurate than a 6.01mm or tighter barrel. But again, you still have to lob the projectile at distances.

Twist barrels shoot laser straight. If you're used to shooting regular airsoft guns and having to lob the shot, shooting a projectile through a Twist barrel and having it fly in such a flat line may be unnerving. However, at distances, as the BB slows down, it may veer off course inconsistently. I'm talking about at the extreme ends of its flight path. So at close to medium to almost far ranges, Twist barrels offer point of aim, point of impact, and very consistent shots.

If it means anything, I use Twist barrels in any of my <5.1" barreled pistols.

Good job. Now you'll have the world's telemarketers calling you and sending you SMS messages about free vacations and pills to make you last longer, shoot stronger and get stiffer.

I'm working at home today. Call me before you come so I know when you're coming.

TM Detonics question....whats usable from the full-size 1911/Hi-Capa that can be carried to Detonics? Hammer? Trigger? Safeties? What about the internal?

I haven't had an opportunity to do a complete overhaul on a Detonics yet, but my best educated guess would say most internals can be swapped, as for externals (save the obviously shorter pieces.)

I know the sear and knocker is the same as a 1911. The hammer strut is different. The hammer... I'm unsure about. I've never seen a hammer that's marketed to fit both, and I've seen hammers that are marked for "Detonics" with no mention of compatibility with other platforms.

Triggers are the same.
I would imagine the trigger stirrup is also the same.

The leaf spring I'd need to look at, I suspect that it's shorter.

Safety levers are the same (1911), as are slide catch, mag catch, hammer pin and sear pin.

Piston head is different.

Standard Marui pistol hop up mount.
