Propane vs Green Gas

There is a rumor going around the green gas is nothing more than propane with a few drops is silicon added.

Kits are available which claim to adapt propane for airsoft use.

Does this really work? If so we are all being ripped off for buying green gas at 100x the price of propane.

It's not a rumor.

Propane has been used for years now.

You're being ripped off if you can't afford green gas.

Buy the Airsoft Innovations Propane Adapter. Substitute no others.

Seriously?

Yes, they are the same thing. No rumors.

No we are not getting ripped off as we've been using propane for years!

worse, green gas sometimes has butane in it as well, making it lower pressure and therefore lower performance from your gun

Some research would have landed you on this thread rather quickly http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=6268

In short: yes. Green Gas is propane with silicone oil and scent impregnated into the mixture, with inflated prices. The propane adapter, and this discovery was all the brainchild of our very own MadMax, who runs AirsoftInnovations who also created the Tornado Grenade. 98% of us use propane in our gas guns, adding our own silicone oil (also provided by AI) in the propane tanks (small green Coleman tanks for camping from CT or Wally World), and the other 2% don't know about this and still use green gas at about 300% higher price.

Stop the presses!!! Are you serious? This is breaking news!

Madmax has fooled us all!

lol seriously they are the same thing, people have known this for years, most new people joining the sport have never even seen a can of green gas much less used one, that's how obsolete it is.

Listen to this, it is VERY true. I wish someone had told me that before I bought a Mad Bull adapter. Get the Airsoft Innovation adapter, it's that good.

Actually i still use Chinese green gas when shooting indoors (i.e., in my house, when testing guns). The propane just leaves too much of a smell, which lingers forever (i could insert a Yo Momma joke here) -- specially in winter when I can't really open windows.

you can then get propane even CHEAPER by buying an adapter that lets you refill the coleman tanks from the 20 lb tanks, bringing the cost down from $5 a pop to about $2

Reading the review of whoever got one, it seemed like a huge hassle. I'd gladly pay some homeless guy $5 to refill the tank for me and save me the trouble, so paying the extra $3 for the pre-packaged one is a bargain.

Plus I buy my tanks when they're on sale (those packs of 3 at CT)

huge hassle? I have one and its easy, put the little tank in the freezer for 10 minutes, take it out, hook it up to the adapter, turn the valve and flip the tank over, there, free gas

Lol I always seem to get there after the 3packs' price goes back up, and yeah it kinda stinks, I smelt actual green gas for the first time like a month ago and it smelled so much nicer like Pledge or something

It's the Smell (Smith from the matrix voice)

Could a wee bit of scent be put into the adapter; like the silicone, to give the gas charge a smell (mmm bacon smell).

Just wondering.

Bingo! That's an awesome idea, seriously

I never even thought of that, just don't use any harsh chemicals that might eat the seals, maybe those scented oils that you burn from the body shop might work

good thinking bro!

I doubt it would hide the scent.

The "rotten vegetable" smell from camping propane is added as warning by the manufacturer for when propane is leaking.

Propane, naturally, has little to no scent.

Green Gas is scented from previously unscented propane... so what you're saying to do is to add perfume to "rotten vegetable" propane... which will still smell like ass.
