Misrepresentation of articles for sale.. then browbeating the hapless purchaser with the threat of negative feedback is low.

Tell him to fu*K himself and report to MOD
Agreed.

Report it and have it reversed by the mods, but don't leave retaliatory feedback.

The whole "flakers will get neg. feedback" bit sounds like one person who was scolded before for such a practice. And now hes using it as a way to bully you into the sale of a product you dont want because he didnt describe it properly?

Like I said I have an idea who this is, but Im not gonna name any names since Im not involved. I say the seller should step up to the plate and plead his case if he still chooses to utilize this scare tactic, should he be brave enough to stand by his actions thus far.

I'll put an end to the debate right now.

If the item isn't what was described you aren't obligated to buy: it's not flaking, it's common sense, and shame on the seller for trying to force you to buy it anyway. WTF is this, bait and switch? Not on this forum.

If he tries to neg feedback you for it, there will be official consequences (which may go as far as losing AV status).

I'd say this goes beyond bait & switch. This is extortion.

Extortion indeed, and I believe the technical term used for intentionally misrepresenting a product you're selling is FRAUD.

As true as that may be, doesn't sound like it was intentionally misrepresented. So the fraud thing may be a bit of a stretch.

I say we shouldn't wait for the seller to make a move to provide an outcome, his actions so far should be enough to warrant some form of punishment. Just because he is a paid retailer should not provide him special treatment.

It kind of is when the seller is going "though shit, buy it anyway or I'll leave you neg feedback"; a normal seller would say "oh snap, my bad. sorry about it. I understand you're no longer interested since this wasn't the product you thought it was."

Yeah of course, 100% agreed. But in this case, its more along the lines of the seller feeling he could still get this guys money despite acknowledging the mistake in the info by threating neg. feedback.

Shitty? Yes. Fraud? Not really.

Agreed, when it comes to this sport you should never for any reason be forced to buy something you didn't want. Not in Canada at least.

I will say the seller is still in a spot where he can make it up to the buyer with a reduced price or some add on's or even a good price on another item, if it was me and the seller was willing to do that, then I'd alright with it.

As far as neg feedback, you're right, that's just black mail. I know personally when I'm looking at adds, if I see an add that threatens the buyer with neg feed back, I'm less likely to contact them. I tend to protect my trader rating because having a perfect trader rating is the best way to let a potential buyer know that they aren't going to get screwed with. But this works both ways.

was it listed as XX and then it was discovered that it was XY, or was it listed as XX, then through your research you realized you in fact needed XZ, but you agreed to pay for XX and the mistake was on your end? im just a bit confused as to the situation.

If flakers recieve negative feedback, then technically he FLAKED. If you and I agree to sell/buy a specific item, then it is for that item. If you decide to opt out at the last minute then you have flaked. If I unable to provide that item as laid out in the sales thread, then I have flaked.

Regardless the seller is in the wrong.

Then that's misrepresentation and not you're fault, good on you for finding out and good on you for bringing it to light. Basically, you don't have to buy anything from this tool, he/she has no grounds to give you negative feedback and you should inform a moderator of who this is trying this crap
