Post COD MW2 Night-Vision Goggles

I know these aren't a very professional or gameable set of NVGs but someone is going to ask about these things so I might as well do a review on them.

So how do you get these "Limited Edition" NVGs?
- Purchase a PRESTIGE EDITION copy of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for the Xbox 360 or PS3.

Features of the NVGs:

-On/Off switch

-Options for a Daytime or Night time setting

-On or Off Options for a light up LED Ring around the main lense

-Adjustable straps

-Modified Sam Fisher type of NVG look

-Has a handful of Infinity Ward and MW2 decals on it

-A scrollable knob on the lense

Other Features:

-There is a smaller ring of LEDs beside the main lense (to the left of it) but they do nothing from what I can tell, sadly.

-Uses 5 AA batteries oddly. Don't know why its an odd number of batteries the thing uses, and not an even number of batteries like everythinf else uses, but it is so complain to IW if really feel the need too.

Final Thoughts:
Overall a decent pair of NVGs.

I suggest you this if you are a huge COD fan like I am, but if you are looking to get it just for the NVGs, I would recommend you look at something of more higher quality.

These NVGs are very comfy and have a pretty light weight to it, BUT they have only one setting per option, and is very hard to use (walk around with them off). The depth perception when you wear them is very ackward. Don't do something like me an try walking around my house with them on (up and down a stair well); I nearly feel face first down the stairs and nearly walked into the wall going up, not fun.

With that said I don't suggest these for airsofting or atleast serious airsofting games, as they aren't very useful (you wil look "different" when you wear then lets just say).

And the Prestige Edition to get these are atleast $200, atleast thats how much it costed me so I pretty spend $120 or so on these, and $80 for the game itself, the art book, and tank of a box it came in.

Pretty much these are for show and display purposes only, they are too cheap and pricey for airsofting I REPEAT THEY ARE TOO CHEAP AND PRICEY FOR AIRSOFTING!!!!!!!!

I'll post more photos of them later

PS Yes I took the photos in my washroom as the lighting is perfect for photo taking (atleast when I use my phone's camera which in this case I did). And If it looks like my NVGs are positioned ackwardly to my balaclava, note that I havent adjusted the NVGs so my balaclava twisted after taking them on and off my head.

The illuminator to the right of the googles is a "always-on" IR iluminator.

This means that if you play with people that have a real NV set, your will show like a Christmas tree in the woods.

Theses are unfortunately not real NV. It is only a camera that has the IR filter removed/modified, with a small LCD display and lenses to adjust focus on the display. It needs the illuminator otherwise the camera will be blind.

Take a camera and take a picture of what you can see in the dark ... Some people has done it on youtube and its quite interested, good review. Unfornatenately , these are for collection and for fun only ... You can't play airsoft with it because it forces you to focus into 1 eye (the lens) and the distance is barely 2 meters.

Real Canadian Superstore is selling a different version of these for $49.99. I tried them out and they seemed to work rather well for being a cheap version. Got a good 30+ feet of vision.

Fixed for truth lol (Joking)

On topic: I got to try these out when I was at midnight release with some of Team GHOST and was unimpressed, I mean I expected FAR FAR less from them but was still unimpressed, that whole prestige copy is an overpriced fucking joke and the only people I imagined would ever buy it were people 13 and under, Rich parents looking to buy timmy's love and people who breath and live COD

I have a lot of money I throw around of this kind of stuff and such (I'm the guy in the bar who usually yells out 'drinks are on me' and the funny thing is that I don't even drink haha, but I like the feeling of giving stuff away) because I save a crapload of money, which most people I find are unable to do.

Frozentex, never thought of it like that but now that you bring it up, I like what you think, gatling guns to me are like a shiny stuff to a asian

Given how huge they are I can't help but wonder what's inside.

I'd also caution anyone thinking of trying these on an airsoft field, there doesn't seem to be a way to wear these with any real eye protection and without knowing what's inside (probably pretty hollow) I'd worry about a high power shot going through the front lens, shattering the LCD display and sending fragments flying into your eyes.

Given how cheap real Gen1s are now, and/or how expensive these come out to (if you're buying it mostly for the NVGs), doesn't seem like its worth it.

Was my thought too. Lol, I'll stick with my Gen 1 Russian made NV rifle scope for now.

The internals are the same as an EyeClops so... that's probably pretty empty, yes. What gives it that huge frontal area are the IR LEDs, otherwise if you slim it down to the camera and screen, there's not much (considering the batteries are external).

Actually, I was considering putting the internals of an EyeClops (so the same as that) into a PVS-14 dummy. That wouldn't be really expensive (EyeClops can be found at ~40$ and the dummy at 32$ shipped). That wouldn't be a real NVG, but could still be some use and would be better than an empty dummy.

And... I wouldn't have the guts to try that with a real NVG, even if it's a 150$ Gen1^^

If one was planning to game these, I think the biggest problem you'll face is having them broken by either bumping them on something, or taking some high-powered BB hits (even from the side). They aren't particularly tough, and I'd suspect that even hits to the plastic housing could cause damage to the internals, not to mention wanging them on a tree or a wall by mistake.
