even with our higher initial weapon cost it would still be cheaper to play airsoft over the course of a year everything else is the same price essentialy

The little accuracy demonstration is so lame. He's shooting stuff at less than 50fts. And the claw trigger rattling make me want to trowup.

I am surprised they went to .50cal as the .40 cal is already in existence (albeit in small quantity) . Sounds like the paintball manufacturers needed to create a new product category to increase sales and revenue. Just think....they will have an "obsolete" category to service as well as a brand new category to promote and develop.....
seems I recall something about this in business courses I took.....hehe
Nothing but a money grab and has NOTHING to do with it being cheaper.

And PS.....they will never get 1.5 million airsoft players to convert to paintball in Japan....even if paintball becomes legal.....not real enough. Japan is the home of "realism".
Just my opinion.

alright I def stretched the point. I'll start a new thread see if anyone cares to weigh in with an opinion as far as ROF is concerned.

Back to ON point; clearly people aren't going to go from airsoft to paintball just because paint/equipment is marginally cheaper. This has very little to do with saving players a little money. It has to do with people trying to make a lot of money with a "new" product.

He has an argument as far as the legality issue, you have to admit it. Countries where paintball was formerly illegal, can take part in the sport using a smaller caliber. That is a black and white point, and one which has significant merit.

Will millions of Japanese abandon airsoft and jump into paintball now? Obviously not.

But I'm sure millions will play at some point in their life. And a lot of people may take it up seriously. It's a different game, that appeals to different people. This guy has the right idea in THAT regard.

Most Germans don't want to take part in any kind of war type game anyway, and those that do feel the need to play paintball just hop over the border to a neighboring country that does allow it. Italy however, who knows?

cansoft? it is certainly cheaper on our end, however the manufacturer might make a 5-10% profit since they can now mark it up for themselves and the end price will still be cheaper. this may be entirely wrong, but that is what I have gathered from reading reviews and comments about cansoft guns.

Mountain bikes; suspension, brakes, and frame materials.

The caveat here is the customer base is many times that of that for airsoft and you have to look back 15 years for the changes to become noticeable.

The guys selling the paintball stuff are bullshit artists pure and simple.

If you look at dollar for dollar basic rig for airsoft and for pball you could come up pretty even, but then factor in how many weapons and BDUs and vests and so on that airsoft players "need" to have. Then start factoring in the radios and optics and NVG gear, and figure out how many airsofters vs. pbers carry a secondary weapon in game and so on and there's no way you can consider this something you participate in because its affordable.

Warhammer 40000 and the advent of Ebay
(not really related, but I had to say it)

I'll be flayed for this, but the arrival of above mediocre quality clones in airsoft could qualify somewhat

3rd ? Humm...Torrents anyone ?
