Smile Review - Silverback Airsoft Lasergrip for KSC/TM G Series

Time for another one of Mr Jons 100% natural good time family reviews. Today I’ve got yet another Glock accessory to pimp up your G series gun. The piece is a replica of Crimson Trace’s LG-617 lasergrip. CTC has been around for a very long time making various laser grips covering a wide range of guns. However these grips come at an exceptionally high price. Since airsoft use isn’t as demanding there is an affordable replica from a relatively new company called Silverback Airsoft. I picked it up for $45.00 at www.airsoftparts.ca it was certainly better than the $230.00 USD for the genuine unit.

Full specs available at http://www.silverbackairsoft.com/glocklas.html

GLOCK 17 LASER GRIP

SBA-LSR-01
- COMPATIBLE WITH TOKYO MARUI AND KSC G17 (AND THEIR CLONES)
- ALSO COMPATIBLE WITH GUARDER FRAME
- MADE IN POM POLYMER AND RUBBERIZED MATERIAL
- CLASS 2 LASER POWERED BY TWO CR2032 BATTERIES (INCLUDED), SETTING KEY INCLUDED
- MORE THAN 4 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS USE
- WILL FIT MANY DIFFERENT TYPE OF AIRSOFT GLOCK WITH USER MODIFICATIONS
(MODELERS SKILLS MAY BE REQUIRED)

This unit arrived nicely packaged in a simple clear box. Included in the box is the laser grip, 2 CR2032 batteries, allen key to adjust the laser, a grip spacer, an extended rear frame pin and a spiffy laser radiation warning sticker to affix to the top rear of your slide. After dumping out the package contents I realized how easy this would to install. I grabbed a small steel punch, drove out the pin in the back of my TM glock (with Guarder Real Frame), popped in the 2 batteries to the grip, put the spacer in and slipped it on. I then got the extended frame pin and just hammered it in… now it’s a bit tricky because that frame spacer thing likes to fall out when you are affixing the grip to the frame. Other than that it only took me about a couple minutes to install it. This laser will fit the KSC/TM G17, G18, G34. Though I wouldn’t imagine this to fit straight frame KSC G series guns or sub compact series Glocks.

Operation is relatively dead simple, there is a nub on the back that you use the space between your thumb and trigger finger to activate. However I see a bit of a problem with this as I have smaller asian hands and jamming the squishy webs of my fingers into this thing to activate it becomes difficult without squeezing the hell out of the grip. It’s easier with gloves on, or my non dominant hand. Either way this was an excellent purchase as it now allows me to holster my Glock in my SERPA without having to remove my Streamlight TLR-2. Alternatively it allows you to free up the front rail to attach a light for those who can’t afford the luxury of owning a TLR-2 or similar LAM unit.

Pros:
- Easy to adjust for windage and elevation
- Easy to install (only require a hammer and punch)
- Low profile and frees up your front rail
- Good quality material
- Fits a variety of G series guns

Cons
- Hard to activate with smaller hands

Is it easily adjusted to be sighted in?
How is it for accuracy?

Since I use it indoors a lot I usually sight it in at about 25 ft away, until the dot rises just above center on the front sight of my Glock during normal aiming. I haven't tested for accuracy yet, but if the dot is in the same place as my TLR-2 laser then I have to say it's pretty damn good considering I've got a lot of direct kills from across the way at XT with a properly sighted in laser.

It appears that it can, but Crimson Trace sells a different model for the sub-compact Glock series which would lead me to believe there is a reason why there is a separate model for it.

i have one on a kjw g32, it fits, but the holes for the pin need to be made wider, because they don't line up perfectly with the pins on the grip, other that it's great.

The only difference between Glocks (besides caliber) is the length of the barrel/slide and the length of the grip. Aside from that the guns are identical, so I can't see this not fitting the 19. But the G27 might have issues with the lower pat of that laser, the grip button, might interfere in some way. I don't overly consider the G19 to be much of a compact gun though.

this grip doesn't work on the G27. The lower end of the grip curves outwards much sooner than the G19/23 (kjw) and forces the laser to tilt forward and not sit properly along the back end.
