I'v owned 3, 2 were game for 1.5 years with zero problems, no miss feed or anything. The other one was resold to a very enthusiast airsofter.

I know most of the Montreal PTW owners, only 2 had problems. One was very minor, the other was out of his own stupidity.

Now after owning a couple and seeing how GREAT they perform, would i respend all that cash? No, it's not worth it with the limited fields/gameplay found here. If i lived in Japan/US with the amazing fields and better weather = absolutely yes.

To fully enjoy a PTW you need to play a lot, or else it turns into a (very sexy) multi-thousand dust collector.

You know I've never had this problem w/ my '07 SCK PTW. I've been to games where regular AEGs were failing from rain issues. MY PTW gets a coat of chapstick on the top of the lower receiver before each game to repel water, and I have a modified Accu-Wedge to keep things nice and solid.

Bad luck, iv played in downpours were it was raining so much we had to cancel the game and other time you had that thick humidity with light rain that gets you chills down to the bones. Zero problems.

Iv also played in -25 with ZERO problems while regular AEG's were breaking left and right and batteries were dying up and down.

Iv also fallen flat on my PTW and i'll be 100% honest... i was in a lot of pain and the PTW didn't even have a scratch. While i have seen people run around, barrel of their AEG hit a tree, bam AEG is in 2 peices.

EDIT: Oh and i wasn't the only PTW owner at those 'rain' games, no problems from them ether AFAIK (or else they woulda come to me with a big 'welp' ).

LOL, well I never said I wasn't
spoiled I am. But those bling

the best pistols ever made.

I only invest money in toys that
won't break/fail from a proven
track record. PTW's and GBBR's
have very shaky records. Your
PTW is allergic to rain.

I don't hate the game or the
players, just shitty guns

I've had my PTW for almost 3 years, It's a 07 SCK Max which I built. It is my primary rifle. The only thing I've ever had to do is get motor reworked, which was a problem right from factory. I use it in the sun, rain and even snow and it has never let me down during a game or skrim, or ever for that matter.

You realized only a minority of PTW owners have problems, especially compared to CA/JG/STAR owners...

What gives a bad impression is the shit storm that follows a down PTW.

It's like a Civic that brakes down, theirs a lot, not much attention, but when a Ferrari breaks done it makes the news and every forum... I bet theirs a LOT more broken civics that Ferrari's also...

That would be true if I was in
a specific camp. I hate AEGs
just as much as PTWs. Their
both equally flawed, just one
is a suped version with better
features. I like realism so I'm
hoping the GBBR is the way of
the future.

I'm not looking for dirton them,
it finds me. The guys I know are
always talking about the problems,
mods needed and replacement
costs. For the rediculous price on
them I could have a gold plated
AK47... Mmmm

I remember seeing Illusion's
thread on removing the barrel
nut with an armorer's wrench—
you'd think Systema would've
made the receiver from CNC'd
alu/steel instead of cast metal
that can't take the pressure.
They charge a lot of cash for
those crappy receivers.

PS Ronan: you do realize that
when a CA/TM/G&P needs a
part is costs next to nothing.
And a Ferrari is a status symbol,
is that what you think a PTW is?

(Safx...if you think this is too long f*ck off...nicely )

I fielded my '08 PTW at the last FTF game (Battle of the 30). It rained straight through the morning. For our first ambush position we were just hunkered down getting soaked.

My PTW was not chapsticked, taped, sealed with waterproofing spray, etc... Just "normal". It was soaked (just like leaving your rifle out in the rain kind of soaked...and I was nervous about it).

Not kidding anyone...I was shitting bricks everytime I brought it up and pulled the trigger. I was dreading getting a "dead pull"...and slogging back to the car for my AEG.

But that didn't happen. It shot every time. It shot well.

For some weird reason at one point in the day it only shot full auto (regardless of setting it to semi or full)...it came back and then went again. That said, with the trigger control possible...it was no issue ripping off 2-3 rnd bursts.

When I got home I actually left it packed away in a case for a week...oops. When I went to check on it...it shot fine, both semi and full. A little rusty here and there, but ok. At least the battery wasnt' plugged in.

So maybe it's just a lucky one...maybe not.

(Safx...if you made it this far...go back up and read the first line...HAHAHAHA)

I read the first line, then the last lol.

Started to read that story of yours
but I already heard it, seems the tale
has been slightly altered. I remember
you saying the semi was out most of
the day, and you had a serious turtle
head poking out all day as well.

safx i agree about the upper, but that was due to over torque delta rings. Iv seen RS uppers snap also, not pretty. Oh and i was the one that had to upgrade a lot of PTWs and that over torque delta ring was giving me nightmares (i was scared of breaking them!). At the end i never broke one or crack anything. Patience + proper tools = win.

I love GBBR, i own one + a LOT of parts, i'm trying everything out to see if they are worth it. But heck just the feeling of shooting one puts AEG/PTW's to shame!

PTW are sexy and I like the idea of "real steel" compatible.

But I would never buy one. Ever!

I have AR's ( real steel ) and some a cheaper then most PTW's.

And that makes no sence IMO!!

If you want to go whit the perfect replica or "the" reel steel feel to your AEG like PTW claim to do, may I suggest you get the licenses and you go buy yourself the real gun instead.

So you blame the 'Canadian Airsoft Situation' on PTW's?

You also suggest to go buy RS for airsoft?

I'm glad i don't play with you

Why are Systema PTWs so freaking expensive? I scanned through the general specs of some of their guns on RedWolf and they don't look much different from other good quality AEGs.

The words "professional training weapons" should be informative about their quality and realism, but are they really the best of the best airsoft rifles? How so?

Thanks.
IMHO...
The reason is mainly because of their brand name [Systema] and it being a radically different design than the Tokyo Marui.
Its speculated that a manufacturing cost of a PTW is close to a hundred dollars. Some steel gears, monkey metal body, electric components not much more sophisticated than your $10 optical mouse...

The brand name and the exclusivity of the PTW is the only reason systema can command such a high price on these guns. And why not? As you can see there are plenty of people willing pick one up. Even with canada's price mark up.

As far as the exclusivity thing goes, its something that a GBB rifle can also provide. Which is why the PTWs are losing popularity these days.

But...The whole point of airsoft, to me anyways, is to be able to achieve that level of realism while being able to engage in military situations with your friends.

To go back to the age-old argument, you can't shoot your friends with the real-steel.

Systema has succeeded in bringing an unprecedented amount of realism into a milSIM.

SIM.
