Hop up question

Hey guys, im trying to zero in my CA M15A4 right now. Im around 10 meters away from the target on prone. Im trying to adjust the hop up but regardless, my gun is shooting lower than im aiming. I turned the hop up screw all the way to the right side already and its still shooting lower than my target. Suggestions?

What weight BB are you using? Also try going further than 10M as that will mean very little for engagements at 40-70M

Hop up does not effect 280+fps guns until past 10m, so your gun is shooting low because your sights are off.

Set a target at 40m, turn your hop up MOSTLY off, fire, watch it drop. Increase hop a half turn. Fire, watch it drop, adjust accordingly until it flies straight. once Straight, over hop a little to make the bb rise a little, fall and then rise a little more in flight.

Once done. Adjust your sights so you shoot where you aim.

Done.

Hop up isn't for adjusting your sights or point of aim. Don't even bother using a target when setting hop up, use as far a distance as you can and tweak it that way. Best is to shoot at a background of dirt or trees so you can see the BB's flightpath, then adjust for the farthest and straightest. My being a sniper, found that adjusting for the farthest/flattest trajectory wasn't always the ideal thing due to overhopping because of variable air densities, so I get the farthest/flattest I can with the hop up, then tweak it a bit under. Is much easier to aim a bit higher to get BBs on target than it is to deal with aiming under because of the BBs overhopping suddenly.

My apologies guys. First I was using 0.20g BBBastard. Actually, I fixed my problem. I was waaay to close at first. When i moved to around 10m, the problem was solved.

I used my iron sights first and then used my green laser to co-witness my target. When that was set, I began to use my scopes and RDS. My laser was actually very helpful as I aligned it with my RDS as opposed to my front sight.

Overall, my shots are pretty accurate. I was able to hit within clusters of 1cm from my target when I was around 10meters away. I also used small objects like erasers and medication jars and I was able to hit them on my first/second shot. I wanted to move my target farther but I wouldnt be able to see it.

That's what I tought at first when I read your post. When shooting closer than your zeroed distance, you have to make a hold under. And when you are THAT close, you need to know your height over bore distance so you can place your shots.

230ft isn't abnormal for an airsoft gun, mostly upgraded sniper rifles find it easy for range, but even a well set up gun like my MP5 shooting 360fps could get .28g BBs out to 200ft no problem.
