Grind 2mm off of the tip of a 3rd party, brand new part? Obviously if changing that part didn't work then its not that part causing the problem, so no thanks.

Could you possibly pimp this thing any harder? If he's buying it from you I'm sure he has already heard your opinion on it, clearly he now wants the opinion of others.

im not selling him my gun, its already sold, and im not being biased, so just mind your business, Im just telling him how i found the gun to be

as for your spring guide, is the tip flat or round? if its round, that IS your problem, and you need to grind it down, if its rounded, its too long, and it will punch out your barrel bushings and spring plugs

Both of them are flat and how do you know they are too long? Give me the EXACT length it should be since you are clearly the gun expert here.

i dont KNOW per-se, but the cause of the spring plug and barrel bushing issues is that the tip of the spring guide is too long and strikes the end of the plug, breaking it off, i dont know if yours is a newer one or an older one, so the dimensions may be different than mine, just take the OLD one then, the original, and grind a millimeter off the end, see if that helps

you can test it by taking the spring guide and the plug out, and seat them into eachother out of the gun, if the outer rim of the spring guide is flush with the rim of the spring plug, theres something else wrong, if theres a tiny gap, the guide is too long

Well that fix, cutting 3mm off, was posted last year when about 3 people were having problems with the shitty design of the WE 1911 and I tried it, cut 3mm off the end of the orignal guide and it still destroyed the slide. Now I could try to invest in a FLGR or something, but I really don't think thats a good investment since the price of all the repairs has been more than a new (and better) gun would have been and the fact that even that might not even work. Now I don't know what you are refering to as "older" but every WE 1911 I have seen has the same length guide which leads me to believe, in conjunction with the above, that that isn't what the problem is, at least in the case of my gun.

older as in, from 2 years or more, well, I dont know what else I can say, I have one from last year, and I know a few other ppl who have the ones from this year and last year, and none of them have had the barrel bushing punch out, maybe yours just has a manufacturing defect of some sort, you never know

sorry if I derailed this thread

I wouldn't buy the WE 1911. The combination of soft pot metal and hard kicking recoil means it's bound to work itself to death. Either catastrophic failure or slow hiccupping death. Why bother wondering if it's going to fail and barf all it's innards out on the next trigger pull.

The last CQB game was hot enough to pretty much cook off tornadoes...how hot do you think the pistols were running?

If you have to have the 1911...I'd go TM 1911. Had two. One was plastic...worked so sexy. The other was all fancy metal...super sweet. The single stack mags and their small gas capacity were just not for me.

If 1911-ish is an option...look long and hard at the 2011 based TM Hicapa. Solid, proven, long term track records. Honestly...for whatever reason the newer ones don't seem as solid (just something in the feel) as the "old" ones. Still solid as a rock though.

If you've done it already...best of luck (...just shoot it until it dies, decide if that was worth it and buy another GBB accordingly...life's too short to sweat the little things). If you haven't...consider your options carefully.

So if you get one, you should pretty much expect it to fail, if it does you wont be let down and if it doesn't then you lucked out.

Also don't mention who has what for sale please. Especially here in the Newbie Tank. Edit your post to take out that info please. You can vaguely mention it, but dont add specifics like whos it is. To the person it was directed to, make sure only AV people PM you about it.
Done, make sense, didn't think about that.

The thing is I don't want to spend 400$ on a GBB, I am willing to pay only 200-250, what kind of gun can I get in that range? Right now I see only KJ and WE.

Why bother spending ONLY 200-250 if your just gonna have to replace parts on it and chance a catastrophic failure that will leave it just short of a pile of junk? If thats all you have right now, keep it, save more and get a better gun. You will thank yourself.
