Xavier is correct. Simply throwing out emotional "it's crapsoft" or "that's illegal" isn't particularly helpful without some more information to backup the information.

People need to take a step back and calm down.

True enough I was just operating under the assumption that it was either public land or within some city limits.

And I always thought that paintball fields had some sort of permit type of situation allowing the land to be used for paintball, but that paintball anywhere else was not permissible (discharge of, sorry). But I may be wrong then?

However, if they're playing on public land, then that's a different story. And if it's within city limits, most urban centres have by-laws prohibiting the discharge of guns - even air guns (airsoft included) outdoors within city limits.

I would suggest let the kid play paintball first. Then move onto Airsoft as their is a more maturer air about it when I transferred from paintball to Airsoft. Not saying Airsoft is perfect but just my observation so far.

Often most people change from paintball to Airsoft due to the crappy attitude they get from other players and paintball staff at the fields so they want to play in a more mature environment. Probably by then they'll be mature enough to accept rules and play honorably.

Not too sure what else can be said about the Crapsoft that has not been said. I guess just refuse to buy anymore from Walmart/Canadian Tire and wait awhile to get the better items.

Totally agree. Not everyone knows about airsoft. They buy what they find available. And what's readily available is the clearsoft from Walmart and Cdn Tire. Sadly, they find out shortly thereafter that their purchase is crap when it breaks and isn't reparable. Shit happens. It's not like we have real airsoft guns available to the general public in Canada where people have the option of seeing the guns, etc like in the US.

That's true, the average joe can't get his hands on a real airsoft gun in Canada, just by walking into a store. What gets me is why do they buy shitty guns and then come here to ask if they are shitty?

People they don't know any better unless we educate them. Like you said, it's hard to get airsoft guns in Canada, which means the knowledge base on them is just as limited.

And people impulse buy or buy without researching for a lot of things.

The advent of partially transparent airsoft guns of acceptable performance has made the policy far less black and white.

not true at all, CT and Walmart guns are still the same shitty quality and the Cansoft is not readily available to the public so it is not even in the same ballpark

I'll also add that I have no objections to kids having airsoft guns. My 9 year old (incidentally, his name is Xavier) has a TM M4 Boys and a TM MP5 Boys and a USP NBB. We shoot them quite often together.

That being said, I only support kids using airsoft when they're under direct adult supervision, and if the kids have NO access to the guns without said adults. That means, the guns get taken away and locked out of the reach of kids when parents aren't supervising. Airsoft is in far too fragile a state in Canada to let kids have guns in their posession without adult supervision.

My point was that it has made the term "clearsoft" itself far less clear. It used to be that one can refer to clearsoft without having to make caveats about partially-clearsoft.
