pestobanana, we'd appreciate it if you don't try to promote the idea of individuals smuggling guns across the border. For one thing, keep posting that a JG Dragon is just a M4 under the hood makes it a matter of time before CBSA catches on.
quick question: has it ever been confirmed that the site is monitored by the man?

Whatever, I'll just wait and watch the bashing.
I wasn't bashing you. I was explaining "how [you are] bending ASC rules". The Canadian retailers who import the JG Dragon do not import them with the intention of turning them into M4s. If I'm not mistaken (I'm no lawyer) that can fall under manufacturing replica firearms.

What kind of response do you want? If you're expecting a, "Yes, that's a perfectly good idea," you're in the wrong place. It's not just a matter of your age. In any case, you're still paying much more than you need to a JG.

Now I don't remember exactly what ASC rules say, so correct me if I'm wrong. As long as I don't buy through ASC then it's OK isn't it? If it is OK from E-mailing the CBSA, CFC and airsoft retailers, I don't think it is truly breaking a law.

Apparently if you are not importing a Replica Firearm, no license is needed.

Quoted from an E-mail

- "If it is a JG dragon it is not a replica firearm (because there's no real "dragon" firearm")"

- "Have you ever had any trouble importing JG Dragons or clearsoft guns before? I don't need a license or anything to import a Dragon or Clearsoft do I?

Technically not but if you have a business licenses and business import licnese it makes things easier."

None that I've heard, but I'd err on the side of caution. CBSA agents are known to google when confronted with ambiguous items.

I'm afraid if it were the simple issue of "proper licences", we'd be a lot less legally constrained as a community.

CBSA has a very inconsistent interpretation of things. However, if they knew there was a M4 receiver set intact underneath the Dragon, they'll most likely treat it as a replica firearm. Right now they don't.

Well the fact that it's an M-4 receiver underneath is not exactly new, it's openly stated on the 007 website. If I pay 350 for a JG Dragon, and 300 (converted to CAD) for a CA M15A4 or something, I'm not really overpaying that much.

Also, If this is manufacturing replica firearms and that is illegal, ummm, what about our classifieds and retailers on ASC? Aren't they, well, not so allowed?

We try to break the least number of laws possible in the most ambiguous ways. It's no secret that airsoft in Canada is a legal quagmire.

Its not so simple as just paying for the gun because USD converted CAD will raise the price not to mention you have to pay for labour for the person to switch the internals as well. Switching internals is not a quick task. There is a lot of disassembling involved

You are not looking at 600CAD you are looking at $800CAD+ and not to mention the risk you run in which if the CBSA does not know what to do and Googles the gun up and see its Airsoft they have a choice of seizing it or not, which most the time they will seize it

Save the heartache you can almost get 5-6 decent Clearsofts from Bass Pro in Canada that are actually used by some users here on ASC

I already converted it to CAD, I am not a total retard... If I go to the U.S. for vacation or something, I can bring the shell and do the work myself. I can just bring the front barrel assembly and the shell. I can take the CA, put on the JG Dragon front barrel assembly, and then put the shell on. From what I have read, barrel assemblies are legal to import back into Canada. The other thing is, a gun with a shell like the JG Dragon clearly looks like a toy. I have dug deep into my guns (when I was in China), and I trust myself with modding any part of the gun except for chinese internals (aside from JG). I modded my friend's G3A3 into a G3SAS (is that a real gun?) so I believe I can switch barrels...

If it all came down to having to use clearsoft, I'll just stick with the AUG i already have thank you.

I think for the amount of work you're thinking about doing, you're better off sticking to your AUG. If I were you, I'd see if your local player community even allows 15 year olds on the field. If they require your dad to be present or something, maybe only then think about a second gun so he can play.

I highly recommend you switch from "transmit" to "recieve" for the next 3 years or you will not have a place in this community when you are old enough to claim it.
Your past experiences in a different country and culture have absolutely no bearing on your suitability to own or use airsoft in this country.
We work hard to maintain a degree of professional appearence when we conduct ourselves, this is to ensure we will be able to play in the future. As a community ASC has decided that we will not tolerate underage owners or users. You will find that almost all fields require 18+ or at the very least 16 with a parent along.

So yes, your age is a problem. You are being treated with the same amount of respect any new, unverified member is treated with. When you begin discussing activities that may cast ASC and Canadian airsoft in a bad light, expect to be told to take it elsewhere.

Right now I just keep the AUG in the house, it rarely ever leaves it. I can wait until I'm 16 to play with a waiver, I can be patient to an extent. I can wait 5 months to play with a waiver, I can't wait 2 and a half years to get AV'ed to get another gun, call me impatient if you want, but 2 years is quite some time. My friend who is also in the area managed to play when he was 14, apparently because they rented a local paintball place.

I've wanted a REAL aeg for quite a long while now, probably 2 or 3 years. I don't really care how much work I'll have to do to get the gun, the conversion can't take more than an hour.

Even if I don't use this method for getting a coloured AEG in Canada, I still have two others in mind. The other two don't involve the States.

Why isn't your JG AUG a real AEG?
