Actually it's better to dress in layers, any outdoorsman you meet will tell you this. It can be as simple as a cotton t-shirt, swetashirt, and shell or as advanced as a set of polypro, some synthetic insulator (fleece or wool), and an outer shell.

Hit up MEC or another outdoors store if you're really into getting geared up properly.

1 layer is not good because you overheat and take it off then what? you freeze because you just removed what was just insulating you. Layers is the key my friend that way you're more easily able to regulate body temperature.

For winter, I just put a couple of fleese shirt under by normal BDU. When it's well bellow 0 celcius, I use a regular winter coat (ski coat) and I put a winter white on top. I use insulated ski over pants and normal winter boots. I have a pair of camo hunting glove that are beyond hot. So hot, I sometime have to remove them to cool my hands...

Covering the head is the most important part. I juste use a regular tuque, in black, since I never got out to buy a military one.

If there is more than 1 foot of snow, I recommend you snowshoes !! It's very amazing and useful!

Try to get french or german winter camo. Or buy white set and spray some brown and/or black camo using pine branches.

french:

I don't know where to get it but here in Croatia we use pure white and somebody sprays another colour... and if you have any connection in Serbia you could get something similar to German winter camo.

german:

Keep in mind that the canadian winter white camo is made of thin nylon and paint don't stick to it easely. It also prevent the material from being wet and heavy, wich IMO, is really important in our climate.

Winter for me translates to my AEGs and GBBs getting torn down for seasonal maintenance. The APS2 gets used a whole lot more.... until the temperature hits 5C or higher.

The hop up will only have issues if you get snow down the barrel (even a few damn flakes will have an effect).

Here's another getting ready for winter task,

Pull all the batteries out of any sight, goggle fan, flashlight, whatever and bag them up for the next season. That way you won't find a clogged up and corroded red dot next spring.

This is Croatian type winter camo. We also have battle west in white that goes with it.

Most homemade coloring I've seen here is done on this.

I can give you advice about camouflaging your gun. Use bandages... medical. Buy white balaclava and about googles - if they're black just use white duck tape or something to deal with black colour. You can be nearly invisible.

Thumbs up

well I just got back from playing a winter game with a couple of friends in my forest for the day... it was pritty cool, one of my friends used my kraken AK-47 (beat it up pritty good) but it still works and I used my D-boys M4-A1 and it held up fine but Im woried about rust because some snow fell off a tree and all over my gun and it was soked and I got a plain white BDU set and just painted some long but thin brown strands with a model kit I have and found it worked really well were I was playing because you could hide near a tree and the brown strands looked like branches with no leafs and same if you wentt prown, you just looked like a little bush (lol)
