Airsoft In The Newspaper... Again

Sadly the article is not well written and neglects to mention anything about airsoft. The fool writing it, Mark Cardwell of Canwest News, has decided that our 'bullets' and guns have only been in Canada for a few years.

Sorry buddy, but my first airsoft gun ever was given to me by my brother when I was 12, and I'm sure as fuck not 15 (although sometimes I wonder...)

I was reading the article and i didn't search for my question. Do you guys (pro's) ever asked a journalist to come at one of your games? Maybe it would prove something or at least he would write good things about it.

"Said the official with Buyairsoft.ca, who asked not to be identified."

That worked out well for a request. And when did DE start chambering the .44magnum's? I only recall factory .357 and .50 caliber chambers, oh well.

EDIT: patcou there have been people who have invited the media to events and because of such actions there are many who refuse to attend such events or any others hosted by said people because typically its sprung on the airsofters that show up as a "surprise". The media tends to twist and turn things how they want it to appear, the article above is only a half ass twist of how HORRID airsoft can appear to your average everyday soccer mom. As long as there is a fear of real guns in this country ((how that happened I've no idea... wait yes I do, MEDIA)), there will be a fear of toys that look like fire-arms. Good news is heart warming, Bad news are cash cows, No news is bankruptcy.

On that note there are some very well documented news broadcastings that are still avail. in the wide world interwebs; however they are mostly from countries that have adopted the sport to be safe and fun, Canada as a whole doesn't accept such a view as yet.

I've often wondered what effect a news story like this one would have on airsoft in Canada.

We had a great article written 2 last summer by a local newspaper that came out and played for a day with some of the local Wolfpack players and others. Damned if I can find a link to it though.

haha I love how much bad things the writer can say about airsoft. Regular paintball markers fires at almost 10times the kinetic energy of any airsoft guns.

he might as well call paintball markers nuclear weapon at this rate

Fun and games until someone loses an eye. And yet only 6 limb and neck injuries related to airsoft in the past 2-3 years.

Way to go fucktard. (The Author, if you can call someone who flouts such superficial, nonsensical fear mongering bullshit as something as respectable as an author.)

As far as I'm concerned - even though I do have friends who are journalists - the news journalists of today only have one thing on their minds:

VIEWERSHIP

Things said can be misquoted, things overheard can be included without checking up. Invite one to a game and they may take what they see out of context. Fact is you may have the best intentions in mind but all it takes is just one journalist with an agenda to seriously screw things up. Unless a journalist is involved in airsoft and can convince their editor about the direction they're going to take with the article.

Wow, at least get your facts straight and know the difference between airsoft and softair. That article is stupid, but I liked the video I think I've seen it before.
